I like the look of the TRD GR Aero Stabilizing Cover. Not for any performance gains but rather the aesthetics.

If you ordered a Skoda in May 2011 you have been very, very patientAs bad as it's been I think some perspective is needed. If you have an ORCA number, it means you have a car. May be a while to wait but you will get one. Feel for those who ordered Kia's or VW group cars who got told 8-12 weeks at time of ordering and now are being told Christmas 2023! When I ordered a new Skoda in May 2011 (yes I know a while ago), The order went in with a £200 deposit and I had NOTHING until September to say car was here. No updates, no tracking of any kind, no calls.
Yes it's a hard credit search but I have no issue with it. And they'll do another nearer the time. That's also fine. Stops me ordering a Tiger 1200 and they have to make sure I can actually afford the car. I rarely use credit bar one 0% card for emergencies and finance on a bike which will be done soon. This I think is pretty normal.
Could the process be better? Absolutely but hopefully they'll learn from it for next time (the Japanese tend to). They've probably have a small team since it's a part of their process to be efficient but demand has obviously caught them out. Online ordering is where this is going. For new cars, bar some needing test drives before wanting to order (and the £1k is refundable anyway) I don't see the need for big dealers anymore. That's their end goal.
What we do know is:
- If you have an ORCA number you have car and they'll be in touch. Either by phone or email. Most of us have been.
- A car then appears in an app for you to track progress (this had it's own issues but is at least some visibility of progress)
- If/when they do phone, they've answered many questions, lots have said they've been really helpful and have said they'd email/phone you with monthly updates. This is where most of us now are
- Demos will be in dealers June/July time for us to have a go. If you don't like it at this point you can still refund and cancel.
- The hype train has well and truly left the station and journos will be all over it soon.
I'm excited too. More than I've been for ages since new cars is a very rare thing for me but we have to keep calm and try to be patient. I'm personally enjoying the rabbit hole of detailing stuff and mods. I happy I'm in line to get a car which is the last of it's kind, a dying breed. Something I hope to keep as long as I can. People need to keep calm and enjoy it. The expectation is something to be enjoyed too.

10:12 order confirmation for me and I got the call yesterday evening. Ordered a Red manual and told Sept / Oct delivery.Shall we start a thread for the cars we are going to buy while we wait for our GR86? I'm a 10:12 (without a call) so if it's going to be early '23 worst case scenario. I'd like to at least have a manual between now and then.
Hi as a fellow 10.28er at the current rate I think we'll be lucky to get the call by 2023!I to had the experience of ordering a Skoda Yeti in 2011 and had to wait for months for that car to appear but I did have the chance of negotiating a discount on that order with the dealer. Also going further back to 2002 I ordered the newly launched Mini Cooper which again took months and months to arrive with little or no communication and zero discount. So this experience isn't unprecedented for me. The plus point for the long wait on both occasions was incredibly strong residuals due to the demand for both the Yeti & the MINI at the time. No pain no gain as they say
I've resigned myself to the possibility that at an order time of 10:28 I might be looking at 2023. Any sooner is a bonus.
Hi as a fellow 10.28er at the current rate I think we'll be lucky to get the call by 2023!
All joking aside I can't realistically see us getting a car until next year & for me I don't want to get carried away with thinking about accessories or modifications until I have had the call as I still
have a nagging doubt something will go wrong
I am going to think about a fun stop gap, I've already sold my previous car & the manufacturer has cancelled my new company car order due to supply issues & the old one needs a back ordered part which is probably going to take it off the road, so I could be spending the summer working from home with no car at all!
By "order has been placed" I assume they mean processed. Seems to confirm they are working through based on first come first served kind of thing.Once the order has been placed we will have a better indication of time frames, but judging by current GR86 volume it's likely to be delivered in 2023.
We will be in touch in due course as we continue to work down the order list. Please accept our apologies for the delay in response times at the moment, we have been inundated with very similar requests and are trying our best to contact all customers in chronological order.
Caffeine and Machine? There is no doubt the launch has been a complete hash by TUK , upset Dealerships , upset customers who managed to secure an ORCA number and I’m sure 1000 totally Ped off folk on the waiting list and who knows how many that didn’t even get on the waiting list, for a car that apparently if you haven’t got an ORCA number you won’t be getting one
The communication can only be described as “poor” at best, if it were an exam TUK would have got a “fail” , BUT , if what @Polymorphic and others have shared is correct if you have an ORCA you will be getting the car you really want, and we are actually the VERY LUCKY ones , if it wasn’t for the information shared on here I wouldn’t have an ORCA number.
All I can say Is I’m looking forward to seeing you folk somewhere in your GR86s possibly here, if you know where it is![]()

What time did you place your order Adam?Just got this as a reply regarding my order:

Again they also confirm that ORCA == Car Secured.
Interesting to see they are straight up saying likely 2023 now though.
Possibly meaning placed with the factory - I'm guessing (aren't we all?) that, after the first batch, they don't yet have available build slots so delivery dates will be unknown.Just got this as a reply regarding my order:

That’s a positive step in being upfront with the customer.Just got this as a reply regarding my order:

I can’t seem to find that, can you share a link/screenshot please?Just a quick point of information which might be of some help to those of us who are still waiting for the welcome call - if your MyToyota account shows your GR86 as being at the "Processing Order" stage and you then navigate through to and expand the Vehicle Order Tracker (VOT)/Processing Order functions, you will find that "the order for your new car has been processed and the factory has received the details."
My guess is that the Toyota Buy Online (TBO) Team may be waiting to receive confirmation from Japan that an individual customer's order has been allocated a build slot before making the welcome call - that way, the TBO Team will, at that point, be able to give each customer an Estimated Delivery Date when making the call (and, presumably, provide written confirmation thereafter).
That’s a good point if anyone gets a call could they please ask if the price for the car and the PCP quote will be valid no matter what the delivery date is?That’s a positive step in being upfront with the customer.
My wish is that they let all of us know that are going to be 2023 and beyond. A blanket email with a note also advising that the PCP quote will still be valid. Surely that’s not too much to ask?
