GR86 GR86 Remap - any news?

Fensport is still playing with their Ecutek map. They are road tuning it, but Ecutek is still on Beta software for the GR86

Just to update this sadly still nothing in place for an NA tune. I’d intended to fit the infinity design intake I bought a few weeks ago but life conspired against me and decided to get it fitted at the same time as it was due to be serviced by them. It was suggested to map the car as a part of the install but their NA tune isn’t sorted yet.

That's disappointing

Anyone know why we don’t get offered the OEM remap that Toyota GR offered in other martkets, and has anyone taken TUK to task about this? Given how the know how the UK like GR products it’s a bit odd they are not offering it.

You could ask but I wouldn't be hopeful, given they struggled to get oil filters for a service, they don't exactly have the best track record with supporting the GR86. It's no surprise really it was a very low volume car sold in a small window, they made up for something like 0.5% of sales between 2022-24.

Thinking on the same lines, so anyone got the email address for Akio Toyoda office?
If enough of us email Toyota it might prompt them to look into it for us.

OPF? Could well be a reason why we’ve not seen a remap rolled out here. The number of units sold globally with them installed will be vanishingly small. Certainly likely to introduce complication and add another hurdle and reason why it might not materialise for EU based cars.

That could be a logical reason, I will refrain straying into what I think about GPF’s.

Had my car at Abbey Motorsport today for a remap, Mark worked his magic on the car.

Mostly the remap is focusing on the throttle linearity which has far more progression now, with the standard pedal travel delivering all the performance in the first 40% it's now more evenly spread. Though some more performance was liberated happily also.

I kinda got used to the pedal feel so I'm in the stage of developing a new muscle memory for the inputs, what I can say in my slightly scenic route home was a car easier to drive slowly but also feeling stronger at the top end. Third feeling strong on full throttle up and incline. The car has fitted a cobra resonated exhaust and a GR86 cup car snorkel (this positively impacted alone when fitted) so was not bone stock.

Any early indications of fuel economy?

I follow Abbey on Instagram, and when I saw they had posted a story working on a blue GR86's throttle map, I did hope the owner might be on here! They posted about doing it a while ago (think adding the BRZ map to a GR86) and I meant to email them and ask for more details but just haven't had the time lately.

A worthwhile change, then? One of my biggest gripes with the car is the throttle linearity. Do you feel like you can use the whole pedal now? The stock setup kind of feels like all of the modulation only happens on the first half of the pedal travel, and past a certain point, pushing it harder doesn't do anything. Presumably that fixed for you now, hence it being more linear overall?

Also - any improvements with regards to the rev hang, or is not something they can do anything about yet?
And if you don't mind sharing - how much did it cost? I assume you've had to pay for an ECUTek licence at the very lest.

Sorry for all the questions, but tempted to get similar work done myself.

I'm doing an 70 mile drive on Friday, I'll pay attention.

The car kinda feels faster and slower. Slower because you're having to relearn throttle pedal positioning I wasn't giving it enough revs but when I did give the beans it really woke up.

Yes Mark was saying within the first 40% of travel it's at full throttle. I have honestly been able to live with it but as I turn the car into my own it does become a weak link in an otherwise solid overall package of a car.

Apparently rev hang is removed, I suppose I was more fixated on the change in feel in the pedal itself, it was an easier time through technical sections of road requiring constant changes though.

I will PM regarding pricing.

Is a shame about the GPF as it also fouls on some underbody bracing I bought so can't fit it. Am very interested in a map though.

Service and MOT due November. Already got Toyota pressuring me via email to book it in with them. I'm still undecided but if I map, then warranty is in the bin anyway.

How much BHP now? Mark said 250-260

Can you pm me the price please?

Please report on the rev hang, if you dip the throttle to change gear the revs climb. Id want that fixing during the map as its wound me up since I got it.
