You know what I thought: if you drive for a long time (even going normally), and you stop for 2 minutes, when you return you just turn on the ignition leaving the car off... you will notice that the temp is close to 100 sometimes more (I even saw 110 once).... because the sensor is output and reads higher temps when off... as soon as you start the car, the temp returns to normal 90-92, could it be that at that moment it reads that it is hot and takes a minute to check that everything is ok before giving power?Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an issue that several owners in Spain have noticed with the GR Yaris GR2. Under certain conditions, the turbo seems to get restricted and won’t go over 0.8–0.9 bar for a few seconds or even a couple of minutes.
The strange thing is:
How to reproduce it:
- No error messages appear.
- Nothing is stored in the ECU.
- The car “fixes itself” after a short while and boost returns to normal.
After some seconds or a minute or two, everything goes back to normal.
- With high outside temperatures and the car already hot after some spirited driving.
- You stop for a few minutes (for example to refuel, 5–10 minutes).
- When you start again, everything looks fine, but under hard acceleration the turbo doesn’t boost past 0.9 bar in any gear.
Has this happened to anyone else? Could you try it and see if you can replicate it on your GR2?
Later I will open a specific thread.
