GR Yaris Rötheli Racing GR Yaris

Is the GR Yaris ECU finally cracked?

Good vid. I'm curious for even E85 as a stage 1 if the stock fuel pumps can do it, as stock the car is running quite hot and E85 will help that and allow for some additional power, and together with added timing both will give a more responsive drive which we love so much...

In theory if one can make parameter tuning, one can do flexfuel with just the lambda sensor...

So, can you omit the DTUK without Air Intake...? I'm curious how the Yaris will do with perfect software and all the changed hardware... I'll be happy with 350/360 hp :).

DTUK works very well on a stock car and certain mods.

When you‘re in the 350/360hp range, you‘ll need to upgrade valve springs to be safe…

Great vid Phil. Well worth the wait. Similar experience to me. As soon as you free up the exhaust you can ignore a lot of the intake and tuning box intel.

Ok. MPS says 350/360 is no Problem. The Spring Problem is in the boost level with 380 + HP...:oops:

Hmm... have to wait for my Wagner anyway. Let's see what else there is for knowledge until then.

Thx Phil

Can you clarify the spec of the car for the black dyno sheet, I'm not sure what it was as the difference with the others wasn't that big...

I'm also thinking that the much lower backpressure of a catless exhaust takes the ECU far out from its original calibrations. Also doing only one run on each setting means the ECU will be even more 'confused' as it gets different boost signals all the time, my experience with boxes on other platforms is that there is some adaptation happening.

Did you do any logging during the runs? Would be interesting to see intake and charge temps, MAF and lambda, and commanded vs actual boost to seperate the workings of hardware vs box.

Black was completely stock.
Increase over stock was around 50Nm and 20HP.

I logged everything during the runs. But that would be too much datasheets for a Youtube Video.
That alone would take easy over 1h.
But that‘s why we always did one run with the Box turned OFF to get as good results as possible.

So the black one was stock hardware.
Red line "430Nm and 275hp" - no box?
Others lines "470Nm and 295hp" - stag 2 box and various filter?

Correct?

Black - Stock - ~460 Nm / ~290hp
White - 3“ with Intake - ~505Nm / ~320hp

Nm has to be reduced in both graphs by roughly 70Nm because of the way the dyno works.

I think I was thrown off track by your comments in the vid before you got the results, speaking of 25-30hp difference with just the exhaust, so I was looking for a larger delta somewhere. So that was perhaps a bit optimistic, and its more around the 20hp mark for turbo back straight exhaust only? With a tune the difference will only become bigger obviously.

Yeah.
I didn’t remember the figures for the stock car correctly, so i said its 25-30hp only with the exhaust, which was wrong.

And yes. The intake alone is around the 10-15hp mark with ~20Nm.
With a tune that delta will increase, but it‘s a good gain just out of the box.

"Need to take 70Nm off from the torque charts" meaning talking of spesific Hp/Nm is kind of usless. you can of course discuss relative delta between parts but not the exact figures.

Talking about specific HP/Nm compared on different dynos is useless anyway. Every dyno reads and measures different, even if you strap the same car different on the same dyno it will make a difference.

That's why i said multiple times in the video, the only thing i'm interested in, is the delta we're gonna see on this dyno on the same car on the same day, just with different mods.

I think his point is that even the delta isn't fully correct... So 10-15hp is more like e.g. 8,5-13hp depending on where in the graph one is...
