GR86 Neptune Blue (Dunfermline)

I had an Ebay message to make an offer on the same spoiler - for some reason the black one is more expensive.

I offered £172 but the offer expired - maybe because it's the weekend. I'll leave it for now and see if they get in touch. I'd like one but it's not a priority, so I feel like I need to get a deal. Especially as you ended with yours for free 😆

Latest bits fished out of the ‘Box of Shame’ and put together, possibly for this year’s Show Season on the Bola FLE Summer Wheels?

After my tussle with removing PPF from it, I'm having the spoiler resprayed by a bodyshop which is costing £150+vat, so £180 all in. I could have ordered a new one from China (with free postage) at that price, but I couldn't be doing with the hassle of trying to remove all of the 3M tape and RTV that's holding it in place on my boot lid.
When I told the painter how much I could get a pre-painted one from China he was very impressed at the cost, especially as it comes colour matched - So I'd say throwing them an offer of £170-£180 is quite reasonable I reckon. (y)

Today has seen me updating the modifications spreadsheet for my car ownership log (as much as my feeble memory will allow), so for anybody wondering how the heck you can spend almost £14k on upgrades to a £30k car, I have inserted a screenshot of my Excel spreadsheet below. I have not included service costs aso, as they are not really upgrades or accessories. This list might also serve as a reminder of what to remove/include when I eventually do come to sell the car ... ;)

+ integrated coat hanging solution: Priceless

What mm diameter are those? Looking for something for mine . . .
They are made up of 2x sets of 60mm Universal wheel centre caps and a 1x set of wheel cap emblems, all from AliExpress. I sealed the rear hole with clear RTV, sprayed the fronts with 4 coats of acrylic clearcoat and once dried, finished them off with a 2yr Wheel Ceramic Coating. Total cost £5:90 for 4.

Fitted the Toyota GR Performance Air Intake, Part Number PTR03-18221, imported from ‘86 Speed’ in the USA. Including shipping costs and UK import taxes (£117.31), the total cost to import was £664.22. It took less than 2 weeks to arrive. By comparison, my local Toyota dealership quoted me £1,138.40 (£948.67+vat) and a 3 month+ wait for the same part! 😬

Did you use the cable tie to secure the air flow sensor cable?

This looks amazing! I have one on order, can’t wait for it to arrive.

What are your plans for replacement filters? Have you been able to find a site that does international shipping? I haven’t had any luck.

I asked ToyotaDirectParts if they sell it and they created a link but said it’s £120 which is pretty steep considering they are around $50.

When it arrives, I’m going to try to see if there is an existing K&N filter that will slot in there.

I believe it uses an oiled K&N filter already (y)

None. As @ZN8 stated above ☝🏻, it already comes with a K&N lifetime filter. If you follow the cleaning and oiling routine using the K&N Filter Care Kit there should never be a need to replace it, unless of course you want to change it for a dry filter.
It does come with a sticker declaring it to be washable, however it’s a bit too big to go anywhere on the intake, so I might have to pay out and get a proper K&N decal to stick on it...

Interesting, thanks for the information, had no idea it had a lifetime filter.

I wonder what this means for the Toyota 10 year warranty. I’ll probably just swap it out come service time.

Thanks guys!

Again, no need - It's an official Toyota (TRD) Performance part, sold by Toyota dealerships worldwide, hence it's Toyota part number, official installation instructions and care instructions (on the sticker). It has no effect on the Warranty of your GR86 if properly installed, especially as it requires no remapping or other engine modifications to have it work. Don't sweat it, you're good.

But does it make any difference apart from making the wallet lighter?
Apparently it does, 10hp I read, but I'm not really bothered by the numbers. As for wallet lightening, the kit cost way less than my last fountain pen, it looks nice under the bonnet with that splash of red and the GR badge, so it'll do for me*! 🤩

I see a lot of people scoff at buying aftermarket air intakes because they offer pretty marginal gains for their price, and the OEM setup is regarded as optimal. But I'm of the opinion that they should be treated exactly like exhausts - as long as they don't lose too much power, buy them for the better noise.
