GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Hibernation time: Plugged up to the Noco Genius 10. Added Fuel Preservative. Gave a good going over with Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam, W5 Citrus APC and Carpro Reset. Dried with a Gtechniq MF4 and Bigboi BlowR Pro touchless dryer. Applied a layer of 'temporary' Xpel PPF to the spoiler's rear edge and to the roof sharkfin aerial before making it cosy under a set of individual wheel covers and my Classic Additions Ultimate Outdoor Cover. Hail cover is at the alert-five if I need it. Next time it's turned out will be in February for the annual service. Night Night Njörðr

Do you iron your socks?

Cleaned it

Spent the morning in a new A1 5dr Tdi 5spMT accompanied by a myriad of beeps and bongs as I navigated from/to Basingstoke Audi.

Not what i would call progress; steering dull, brakes snatchy, gearshift vague [only 5 gears ..wtf], digital dash confused, interior materials basic and safety features designed to drive you nuts [even if you can switch them off]

After that, stepping into d’6 even more special than usual.

Went to Macklin Motors Toyota in Hamilton for it’s first service. All good and pleased with the service/facilities as I had booked a waiting appt first thing, all done and dusted in 90 mins. Thanks to other forum members for the recommendation of this dealership, definitely a better experience and they even supplied the oil filter & crush washer! 😂👍🏼

Put the wheels on. Not the best of pics as I was rushing as I had somewhere else to go. TWS T66-F 18x8.5 et42. Very close to the front shocks with the camber bolts but is OK. Feel noticeably lighter than stock wheels and weigh 6.9kg each which I double checked. Visually looks dramatically different to the black wheels so will take some getting used to. Changed to Goodyear AS6 which will also be a nice change after years of Michelin. Does make me think more about shocks and brakes but that will have to be next year. Service due in 2 weeks and no doubt a whole load of drama getting them coded to the car awaits.

Those look awesome, perfect offset at stock ride height IMO. I imagine it will settle a bit after it was jacked up. I don't think you can find a better wheel for this car, certainly not lighter anyway. What size AS6s? I'm guessing by the mild stretch they are 225/40.

Yeah 225/40. If I'd gone any wider I'd have touched the shock. Not driven far, only through the estate to make sure it was OK. With these specs it's filled it out quite a bit. Even from the rear it looks wider and from the front you can really see the camber now. It's still all within the body, thanks to the bits on the back arch.

Looks ace, are the Goodyears much quieter than the Michelins have you noticed?

If I may butt in, I've found the Goodyear's quieter, and think they ride a tad better. But I also went to 225 section as well, so whether it's due to brand change or the slightly increase of rubber I do t know. But I didn't see the Goodyear's available in stock size anyway.

Work trip to Florida, look what Santa gave me in the post waiting at the Hotel breakfast bar! A RHD Verus Engineering throttle spacer! I hope it fits.

Give us a quick review when you can. I understand it moves the throttle pedal closer to the brake? But it also looks like it brings it closer to the driver too.

Today I taxed my car for another 12 months. Can't believe I've had it for almost two years already.

(Been busy with work stuff over the last month or so, haven't driven the car at all for weeks or been on this fine site for that matter but I'm still alive)

Thought of you yesterday was in the rear seats of an E class merc and it had carbon coat hangars that fitted around the headrest supports. Neat option.

Bought the GR86 a net to go over the car cover this Winter, as I feel in my bones that we'll be getting some stormy weather this year. 🌪️

Woke up to a flat rear n/s tyre. Did my finest Danzel impression and pumped it back up to check for leaks, but none could be found, and its since held through lunch with no loss. Fine yesterday as had a long and enjoyable country run, confident its an 'overnight' issue. Will keep an eye on...

Sent the hail protection cover back and decided to get something a bit sturdier to protect her from the nightime winter weather. Added a couple of sockets to make the hoovering a bit easier, and a strip of plastic to stop me marking the door edge on a clumsy exit!
