GR Yaris (Gen 2) Oil change every 6 month for GR Yaris (Gen 2) in Germany

Hello folks, there is news about the oil change interval for the GR Yaris.
I had announced that I would ask the German Toyota Customer Service what they think about the information in the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE - EUROPE, which clearly states the oil change interval for the GR Yaris as 10,000 km or annually, whichever comes first.
Now I received the answer that, in the opinion of the German Toyota customer service, the GR Yaris must have an oil change every 10,000 km or every 6 months, whichever comes first, so that there are no problems with the warranty.

The German Toyota customer service department suspects that the information in the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE - EUROPE from TechDoc is incorrect and wants to have it checked.

As the oil change interval in the service booklet is not clearly defined as every 6 months and because it does not state that an oil change is also required at every intermediate inspection, there is only the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE - EUROPE as an official document from Toyota, where there is a clear specification for the oil change interval.

I am curious to see how things will continue and whether they will be able to clarify this.
You can see from the UK service booklet what a clear formulation looks like, which cannot be interpreted in any other way.
I'll keep you up to date.

The documents MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE - EUROPE and SevereDrivingConditions can be downloaded here with access for 1 hour for approx. 6 €:

Its been every 6k or 12mths in the uk since 2020 for oil. I doubt its any different anywhere else, typical dealers getting their knickers in a twist.

It's the same in Germany. So much bla bla, a rumor like that can get out of hand, like everywhere else. Who the hell has the time and the desire to drive to the dealer every 6 months to change the oil in a normal car? It's not a Ferrari F50.

Most retailers know less than their customers, so you can usually forget about it.

I had the first service done yesterday at my dealership in Belgium for my mk2, the higher ups confirmed the 6 months interval, no matter if you drive the car hard or not.
This is a bit rediculous. A lot of people buy this car as a second or third car, which means you might get oil changes for just a few 100km's.
Compare this to my Boxster (which is still a way higher perfomance car), there it is once every 2 year or 30000km.

Remember everyone complains about the service cost of Porsche, well, they can be 4 times as expensive as Toyota before they are actually more expensive...

For a garage queen yeah it's a bit pointless, mine has already 4000km in 2 months and the planned yearly average is around 15k with some spirited driving whenever I can so I think I'll follow the maintenance schedule.

imo there is a difference between a garage queen and a fun car.
I go to work by train, which means I do about 15k km with my daily car.
The GR Yaris will be used just for fun weekend drives, which is maybe 500km a month in summer and maybe 200 in winter. This means in winter this will be an oil change after 1000km of driving...

I'm 100% convinced this engine doesn't need this maintenance schedule and they just want to get more money out of it. Luckily I negotiated a free replacement car when I need maintenance, I'll tell you how that goes when I arrive every 6 months for a maintenance job which should cost less than the replacement car.

You said "just a few 100km's" between oil changes, meaning every 6 months, that's garage queen territory, sorry

Now you're saying 200 to 500 a month, quite a bit more, in that case yes that could match a fun/track use, still, if the car only goes out to be driven hard, I would follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, but it's your car at the end, your choice, though I don't know if Toyota would uphold the warranty if the schedule isn't followed, I know some dealerships are more flexible than others, since mine confirmed the 6 months interval I don't want to risk it, it's less than 300€ anyway and it's my second car so it doesn't bother me too much personnaly. Again it could be annoying to some owners I understand that.

It's not about money, directly, it's about keeping the oil fresh enough to prevent LSPI, as GF-6 does not retain that property for long.

Toyota here in Japan stated 1yr or 10,000km. Or... "Severe Condition" which pretty much means you're driving it... 6mo or 5,000km. Or...after any competition event.

The person who said "It's not a Ferrari:" The Yaris makes 187hp/L and 250nm/L. That's the same specific horsepower output of a Ferrari F8, and a specific torque output that's 20% more than a Ferrari F8. The G16E is a very high-performance engine, and prudence dictates it should be treated as such...or don't. Whatever. The good news is a new engine is only around 20% that of the F8 :)

I didn't mean any performance comparisons to a Ferrari, but that it is a cheap small car for the price of a set of rims compared to a Ferrari.

My time is too precious for that and I don't subsidize dealers with a Yaris. Once a year is sufficient enough. All 6 Months, big NO for me.

Now that‘s what I call Christmas…..🥳😍😎

I essentially cancelled my order because of this (and the fact that delivery takes ages).
I've know bought a Porsche 911 and that needs service once every 2 year.

Maybe he has bought a used 996 which is also a 911 ;)
991.2 actually. Costs about 75% more than the Yaris, but Will keep it's value. It's a manual targa 4. There is 1 other for sale in EU and I got a very good deal on it.

When I ordered the Yaris 991's were still much more expensive than what I paid.
Regarding value of Yaris. There are already several on sale at sticker price. Looks like demand at current price isn't as high as expected.

A manual Targa 4 is a very nice car, maybe a but heavy, but still very fast and firm.
Congratulations!
However it’s not comparable to a GRY.
To drive a 911 e.g. in Germany gets more and more awkward due to the ideological implanted climate (scam!). With a GRY you can have fun without standing out.
And isn’t it all about having some fun - in these crazy times?!

Hi guys!

I got the information from the German Toyota customer support that the GR Yaris (Gen 2) has to get an oil change every 6 month regardless how many kilometres it has run since the last oil change.
The other limit for the oil change is 10.000 km.

It would be interesting to know what are the oil change intervals in other countries.

Therefore, it would be nice if some of you could post pictures from GR Yaris (Gen 2) and (Gen 1) service booklet from other countries.

Below are pictures of the German GR Yaris (Gen 2) service booklet.

These are the same oil change intervals (6m/10,000 km) for Gen 1 in Australia.

I agree, the GRY is more about fun, and it's way easier tot drive a bit like a hooligan (not in a bad way).
And you're correct that any 911 of Boxster/Cayman stands out, while the GRY is nothing special if you don't know.
But, in Belgium the 991.2 generation is the only Porsche generation where taxes are reasonable (lower than GRY actually) and in Flanders we don't have the Fun Roads where they GRY shines. Most of the drives are cruising through urban regions.
