What oil coolers are people installing? Looking for a self install kit to keep track oil temps down.

the popular kits over on the other form are not available in the EU - the Jackson Racing kit seems like a great self install option, though they don't have an EU distributer.

Interested in hearing what other kits are out there this side of the Atlantic, preferably that come with brackets for easy install.

Looks like a good option - all brackets, lines etc included. Also thinking about Verus brake cooling at some point too, and the side mount location of this cooler looks like it may interfere with the hose rooting from that kit.

I’ve got a HEL performance one fitted, very pleased with it, required no cutting or drilling just the removal of a couple of plastic pieces from inside the bumper, bracket fits straight onto existing holes, and sandwich plate fits with standard oil filter under the bonnet.

I did mine myself - Jackson Racing inspired CAD designed mount, stainless steel spacers and hardware, Setrab Series 6 16 row oil cooler, oil filter Spacer and 92°C thermostatic sandwich plate, aeroquip lines and fittings - beside crash bar mount everything is easily available at Merlin Motorsport or other continental Europe vendors. It's a fun project honestly - wanted to do DIY oil cooler for my Yaris too but it's mostly a daily for me so I passed on this idea :)

Quick note: I've used this style oil cooler for over 4 years in my 17' BRZ and now I'm after first year of ownership/track use with my GR86 (6 track days this year so far). No issues at all 😌

All in with Shipping and duty it wasn't cheap but to me the design made sense and the reviews were all top notch.

I can only say that my feedback is the same, if you can afford it, just do it. You won't find better out there.

I like the look of the Jackson racing radiator / oil cooler. Nice short oil lines and doesn't get in the way of a charge cooler if I decided to take that route later. The HKS one is nice, but I don't want a tiny washer resevior and to faff about making the headlight washers work.

Greddy/Blitz is nice but will block where the charge cooling pump would go on the Harrop kit, likewise the other one that is a "fake" Greddy cooler with a name that I forgot.

So, I've still not decided!

Revolution make a v mount cooler module which looks like it may avoid some of the packaging/interference related issues raised by EU market cars.

Suffice to say I’ve no first hand experience with any of the kits available so can’t pass comment on their quality or functionality.

I’ve recently been able to give the HEL Performance oil cooler kit a proper shakedown on track… I’m pleased to say oil temps peaked at only 105C which is a huge improvement from the 125C+ I was getting within one hot lap earlier this year!

I went with the JR kit in the end. Shipping and import tax means it’s not the cheapest, but it’s a well thought out kit and relatively easy to install. Rock solid temps on the track too.

@Three4Eight a little late as you bought the JR kit already but I found this German company that might be of interest
They sell an oil kit with Setrab core and a shroud, they mention racing their GR86 too, seems legit.
A bit expensive maybe for us in the UK when compared with the Infinity-design and the HEL options.

@Grblue86 thanks, seen that kit recently also. Looks very similar to the JR Kit. Umbrella seem to be developing some good products for GR86 - their BBK looks good.

Spending more time looking at the cooler, it looks like a clone of the JR kit. No bad thing.

Personally I did JR mount clone from stainless steel cut on CNC, stainless spacers and hardware + all Setrab fittings, cooler and thermostatic plate. For hoses I chose Aeroquip. One thing that is different is that I've opted for 6 series 16 row but it worked flawlessy for me during 33° C summer heat at Tor Poznań (Poland) with max temps around 110° C read through Ecutek app.
The Umbrella oil cooler kit looks nice but I'm not so sure about Fuji thermostatic plate thay're using.

I've had to tidy up this thread, as it was getting off topic.
Please keep the discussion in relation to oil cooler chat. Thank you.

The other posts have been moved to the brake chat thread.
