Hey GR people :)
I have a mk2 auto and thinking about some extra power without compromising warranties or diving deep into huge upgrades.
I only have in mind intake and downpipe keeping the stock exhaust.
Does anyone has experience what the gains will be without using ECU tuning or a tuning box?
Thanks!

EU6 HJS downpipe +10hp +20Nm
Intake maybe +5hp if good
IC piping and IC +10hp

Order of magnitude, more relative the OE overheating a bit

I’m not sure you can tune the gr2 just yet… but I would focus on bolt on upgrades first, downpipe, opf and then intercooler.

If you don’t want to mess up with warranties, leave it stock. I personally don’t like tuning boxes myself because the way they operate.

I'm trying to find the information whether the existing HJS downpipe (HJS-Nr. 90 82 8000
Ø 110/60mm) is fully compatible with a stock Gen2/facelift?

Does anyone know?

The exhaust is different for Gen2 so I have doubts about the downpipe.

Are there any more differences than exhaust tips spacing ?

I would assume it fits - have you checked the Cat P/N in catalog? Also you can contact HJS and ask them.

Yes, diameter of exhaust, fitting clamps and looks like fitting point locations…more than what was expected… so it´s likely hjs dp of gen 1 will not fit, but there isn’t proper proof just yet.

I asked HJS a week ago, no response from them as of yet.

That's interesting - thanks for that. I wanted to have my gen.1 catback modified (as I assumed that there won't be much difference) to fit my upcoming gen.2. I'll have to look into this again.

ACME in italy has checked (since producing aftermarket parts)
and unfortunately all mk2 exhaust components are different: downpipe and kat, DPF, catback

then, if i am not wrong if you remove or change the primary kat you must pur or "special device for lambda" or do ecu tuning in order to avoid yellow engine warning on the cockpit
am i wrong ?
thx a lot

In the GR1, on the primary cat, if you fit an hjs homologated one, yo don’t need ecu tune. If you delete completely, then yes.

On the secondary cat, which is also a GPF, on the GR1, you can fit a straight pipe without the need to do anything else.

Some recent videos from a guy in Italy doing exactly that, modding the mk2 without touching the ECU, some interesting bits in there, from what they observed at Acme, +15hp from the custom exhaust, another 5hp from the Eventuri intake and Wagner intercooler.

Not very different gains from the mk1 with same mods, what makes the difference is the opf delete and a new dp, that will give you around 20 hp total.

What´s more interesting to me is the size of the water cooler in the mk2. Looks quite chunky and almost double the mk1, interesting mod for the OG owners if plug and play.

He didn't change the downpipe...
