Thor Highway?Oh that’s interesting, so it looks like I’ve been allocated a cancelled order now (perks of them all being the same spec I guess) my order was processing until today then all of a sudden the status changed to processed, built and shipped. Don’t suppose it matters just means it’ll arrive earlier than I expected. Early Christmas presentmine is also near to South Africa possibly on the same boat. Think shipping times are longer now due to not using Suez.

when test drove the MK2 shortly last week, the car felt more planted and "bigger" - don't know if it was from stiffer suspension or from gained weight.
I try to get a back to back test drive with Mk1 and mk2 so can compare better the cars. Also it would be interesting to weigh the cars.

Grey is actually much lighter colour than what it looks in pictures. quite like dark silver.Not mine, Auto in white. I saw how grey looks on a camry and it's not for my taste. But it's just me

Took an Auto for a test drive today.
Accompanied but that’s Toyotas policy now. Initial impressions are paddle up/down shifts are quick but small same colour paddles not easy to find. Auto mode upshifts felt about right but down shifts drama less so vague as to what gear it’s in but felt right on pickup. A bigger gear indicator would have helped there. As would a more traditional dial display graphic as subtle bar rev counter and small speed readout is all I got. Maybe able to change/personalise but didn’t have time.
Inside quieter, less engine noise but prefer the originals raucous sound.
Suspension felt a little bit plusher considering it’s beefed up? Been driving something else and don’t have a GR now so difficult to compare but others have noted this too.
Drivers front visibility has improved but still found myself ducking down below the mirror. Maybe my fault as didn’t lower the seat and I am a bit lanky! Extra power? Can’t say I noticed it.
Overall, before I drove the auto I thought that’d be the version I’d go for as the originals manual box wasn’t that good, but not now. It’s not that the auto isn’t any good it’s just that it detracts from the whole driving experience. I found the original GR lacking in feedback but this just makes it a fast capable machine with less reward from less driver input. And that’s not fun!
So, if I could get a Mk2 it’d be a manual, that’s if the box is better as they say? But thinking about the extra costs for the negligible benefits. I’d just buy a Mk1 again!

Dashboard is all customisable but default should be big gear indicators.

Haha yeah, Other colours are available apart from the ubiquitous grey!
My point was that if anyone wants to see a black car in the flesh they can.
Toyota Grimsby brought the demo car across from Hull for me to test drive. Surprisingly I’m the only person wanting a test drive within their group of three dealers. They’ve only sold one within the group too.
