GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Hello all,

I am currently in Japan and wanted to share my experiences with you. I have now driven 3 GRs being the Mk1, Mk2 (auto) and the GRMN. I believe with my experience, the Mk2 and GRMN handle very similar, but from MK1 to MK2, you can definitely feel the difference in power and and body rigidy. The car feels like it has slightly more of a grunt when it comes to engine note too. The interior is actually quite nice and simple, it becomes quite appealing in the flesh, so my fears of it being ugly basically dissipated as soon as I got into the cockpit.

The front bar looks fantastic and not to mention the colour in the flesh, wow, just wow. I truly can not express in words how gorgeous this car looks in this colour grey.

I would never buy the auto as I enjoy shifting myself and my left hand needs something to do but for all you auto lovers I have to say that the auto feels very refined and does a great job for a daily driver, I could definitely see myself considering the option when I'm quite older haha.

All in all, very happy to put my money down for a MK2 manual.

It's so bad that no one is showing us the driver's side of this roof! In all videos, one can only see the codriver's :p

Going by the Aus flag under your profile you're not a Japan resident I take it? Did you put your order in for one in Japan? If so, are there any hurdles? Curious as to how difficult it would be to buy one in Japan and have it shipped to the UK. I'm planning to fly out there in November.

That is correct, I don't reside in Japan. I placed an order for a MK1 over 2 years ago and am holding steady now for a MK2. I hired both vehicles whilst over here in Japan and have a friend who owns a MK1 which ive driven extensively, I'd highly recommend as the experience isn't that expensive.

The app shows it has left the factory. So now I follow it on MarineTraffic and the ship is off of Durban South Africa Africa. With it due in Bristol on 02 October.
 
Today i found out that someone in Latvia bought whole three White manual MK'2s, why, no exact idea.
 
One thing I’ve observed is Mk1 drivers all seem to wave at each other as we pass. Mk2 drivers do not! GR Yaris hierarchy.

Must be an Estonian thing, I get a wave/flash from about 2 in 10 fellow mk1 drivers here in the UK

Oh that’s interesting, so it looks like I’ve been allocated a cancelled order now (perks of them all being the same spec I guess) my order was processing until today then all of a sudden the status changed to processed, built and shipped. Don’t suppose it matters just means it’ll arrive earlier than I expected. Early Christmas present 😂 mine is also near to South Africa possibly on the same boat. Think shipping times are longer now due to not using Suez.
