I had the dealer disable mine via the software. I plan to get an aftermarket exhaust once I've recovered from fitting a new kitchen and Christmas!

I'd vote for a 4th option: Turn off the fake engine noise and opt for a better sounding air intake. I upgraded my filter and deleted the charcoal filter, the front end sounded better. I plan to do similar with my next car, but with something a bit more aggressive sounding. I think under the bonnet engine sound is as good or better than exhaust as feedback.

I agree, but I think you'll need a whole new intake to make a real difference. I've got a different drop in filter (HKS Super Air Filter) and it might have made the intake a bit louder but it's barely noticeable if I'm honest. And in the UK we don't have the charcoal filter, so no improvement to be had there.

I have seen an in car clip of a car with a KN intake and tbh, think it sounds pretty good, adds a bit of bark.

Hi @Conscript
Where did you order your HKS drop-in filter from?
I'm from Denmark and have a hard time finding many EU dealers who have it I'm stock. If anyone knows a reliable dealer, it might be faster for me to order it from the UK than waiting for some EU store getting it from Japan..

I got mine from Fensport, I think it improves the sound a little and the car feels slightly perkier.

Yeah it was Fensport. Use code GRZOO for a 5% discount. Honestly though, I'm not sure it was worth it.

Bought a K&N drop in filter. Possibly more power right at the top end but not really worth it. Is a bit more induction noise when you open the throttle harshly.

Think Hills of Woodford disabled this horrific noise for me without saying anything when I got it new. I’ve not heard it at all since driving the car.
I have a feeling they were asked to switch it off on so many cars it was pretty much a default thing to do. lol

If you're in any doubt, this video is the best comparison of the difference between it being on and off.

Do you think they turned it off without asking? They shouldn't do that, even with crap fake noise.
