Draft calendar announced, not sure how accurate and final it will be.
Still many driver seats unconfirmed.

What's Latvia like? If anything similar to Finland and Poland, its gonna be a crazy fast summer 😯

Still sad not seeing Rally GB on the calendar. Used to take a day or two off school with my dad, sleep in the car in the Welsh forests, and see all the Imprezas and Evos parked up as we walked to the stages. Still hope beyond hope to take the GR one day while it’s still competing!

Bit of a tangent, but curious whether those outside the UK see it as a loss to the calendar or not? I’ve always thought of it as one of the classics, up there with Monte Carlo, Sweden, 1000 lakes, Safari.

Well, with so many classic rallies, hard to make room for new ones. Many classics were also off the calendar, only MC is rock solid 🤔, so I understand some sort of rally rotations.
As for rally GB, as an outsider, I really like it! Unique conditions, great stages, hope it returns soon!

Would be fun to schedule all rally eligible countries in a row 3 times, so example there are 20 countries in 13 events yearly, so next time the same rally would be run in different time of year, and all rallies would get a turn.

It's a bad loss for me, the Rac Rally of old used to end the big circus around the globe and to think how many times it staged memorable final showdowns... The forests in the sombre autumn light, the cars covered in mud, the wooden logs, even the mickey mouses stages added flair, Sainz Senior's heartbreak, the Colin and Burnsie fight.
For my taste I'd add to your flawless list the Tour de Corse and Acropolis, always had a soft spot for New Zealand too.

Yep, Corsica was another favourite, and can’t argue with Acropolis and NZ. Sometimes you’re not sure whether it’s personal bias, but for me the RAC in miserable November British weather always felt like the ultimate test and a fitting championship decider. Not saying it was better than the other rallies, it just felt like an excellent order for them.

One day I hope to see Rally Finland 😊

Similar to Estonia, fast gravel stages. Rally Estonia will be missed, this year I will head north for Finland to get my fix.

It looks like Rali Ceredigion will be on the European Rally Championship calendar in 2024 so while it isn’t a forestry event, it’s similar to some of the events we have in Ireland but albeit with tightly controlled spectator zones..

Whoops! Good to see there is interest in it :)

Im hearing the rumours/ideas for rule change for 2025 again for WRC? Rally2 cars becoming the standard and them ditching the Hybrid Rally1. I think this would be cool and open the door to more manufacturers coming in with cheaper cars (300k cap). Would be like the late 90s/early 2000s again.

Well they are hardly any slower, Mikkelsen was even 4th overall in JP rally at some point, would be much more relevant too...

might bring variety to the top - also like that simpler technical rules so maybe it would help good drivers to show.. but as we all know if/when factory teams start their business it will soon be rally 1.5 car even though there might not be hybrids or little less power

100% behind this. Much more tangible link to road cars. Rally2 does look like the sweetspot.
