Hi all,
Toyota Germany already published WLTP specifically (preliminary) for the GR86

I am puzzled as to which value is for which transmission.

“WLTP 10,7-9,4 l/100 km, CO2-Emissionen kombiniert nach WLTP 246-216 g/km.”

In the first gen auto was scoring better mpg and CO2 is it still true?

According to North American web site auto is still the frugal one

Any ideas?

WLTP is used for showroom tax in U.K. as I have preordered mine it would be good to know this. (I might change my mind about the transmission choice)

Final values expected in April !

I found this from another forum. Essen motor show poster. I think the better fuel economy goes to auto following ordering of sentences in the text at the top. They messed up blue colour descriptions I think.

That’s interesting if they are the colour choices coming to Europe 😎🤞 If they match the North America market they would be:

Crystal Bkack Silica = Raven Black
Bright Blue = Trueno Blue
Ignition Red = Track bRed
Ice Silver Metallic = Steel
Crystal White Pearl = Halo White
Magnetite Grey Metallic = Pavement Grey
Saphire Blue Pearl = Not sure as Neptune blue is a flat colour 🤔

Those colours are the same as the North American market Subaru BRZ , with the exception of the last one 🤔

That's high.

With my NA tuned GT86 I averaged:

8,4l/100km over 20000km with 98ron

11,5l/100km over 30000km with E85 and similar power and torque as the GR86. Which is gasoline equivalent to 8,9l/100km.

Commuting and fun drives all included (no track).

As far as I’m aware the transmission ratios are unchanged from the GT86 , a journalist asked the question for me at the US launch. The 6AT has much taller gearing than the 6MT so I would expect it to be the best performer in the WLTP tests (but I could be wrong). I recall a post on another forum where someone had worked out the maximum speeds in each gear which I will try and find. Although the 6AT is taller geared as on cross country driving where legally we’re limited to 60mph , usually 2/3/4 is plenty and you’re most likely breaking the speed limit maxing out in 2nd. 🤔

I have to the 2013 auto and on the motorway it is insanely efficient
They introduced 60mph limit between Reading and London and my car average 60mpg with cruise control locked to 60mph! With gr86 I can only imagine with tall gearing auto will be the frugal one in real life.

In any case I think I will take a leap of faith and stick to my pre order decision. I saw a US users Subaru BRZ (auto vs manual) motorway mpg confirming this point.

Cheers

@Ersakus Are you in the U.K. or Germany 🤔

I will contact Toyota Germany and will let you all know if I get more info. Toyota U.K. kindly gave me their details

Are you intending to go with a 6 speed Automatic if we get the option🤔 , that is my preferred choice 🙂

Yes auto for another decade to keep. Sublime machine.
But if they messed it up and made it the less efficient option then I’d go with manual and see it as a toy for shorter term. Premium auto or base manual for me. Will see what Germans say in 7 working days appearently…

From what I know the 6AT is the same gearing wise as the GT86 , I’d be surprised if it’s less efficient than the 6MT which has shorter ratios 🤔 I simply prefer having auto around town and manual change when I want it (which is less than 20%) of the time. I tried the 6AT in a GT86 and the box was fine , the torque dip let it down ☹️ I’m hoping that the GR86 will allow plenty of redline in 2/3 👍

Yes torque dip is the issue with stock GT86. Power delivery is supposed to be truly linear with the new car
My current one is my only car and acts as second family car (short people). Unfortunately I am in taraffic most of the time and auto is great in my situation. I test drove GR Yaris. It was amazing but in city it felt quite taxing to be shifting gears manually. I drove manuals for prior to that for 20 years. So I know both.
I got spoiled in the past 8 years by the auto GT86 experience.

Toyota Germany replied Re:WLTP final figures
“We expect to receive more detailed information towards the month of March.” No comments on which transmission is more fuel efficient

Sounds like the details will be in the glovebox of the press cars.
