GR86 Wipers

I put Bosch Aerotwin (AR22U/AR20U) on mine at 20000 miles, as I did regularly on my GT86 beforehand.

Easy to fit, even for someone as technically incompetent as me, and much better than OEM (if arguably not as neat looking).

They must sit lower on the screen than on the GT86 though, as they’re below bonnet level in my eyeline on the GR86, whereas they weren’t on the GT86.

Replaced my blades today as they were knackered. I went for Denso Hybrids which I'm certain is the factory wiper. For those interested the part numbers are:

DUR-055R (drivers side)
DUR-050R (passenger side)

Cost me £35 from Amazon.

When they need changing, my go-to choice is PIAA silicone blades, paired with periodic glass treatment like RainX.
I've run this combo on about half a dozen cars - the blades are pricey, but good quality, and the combined effect is great in crappy British weather.
The 86 is still on it's original blades (20 months/8k miles).

I have just changed my blades for the OEM ones in the garage. I was being a little picky, but 2 years and 23k miles thye were starting to streak, even with Rain-x type products. I can see clearly now Lorraine has gone, etc....

Going to America in a few months, I plan to stop by a dealer and buy the replacement inserts that are only about $8 a side

Could you do me a favour next time you're by the car...could you take a look at the number on the top of your wipers?

I'm pretty sure my ones are also Denso hybrid blades. But they are getting smeary, so I gave them a good clean the other day and noticed the part number was "DW..." rather than "DUR". Taking a closer look, I'm not actually sure if they are hybrids or not, they look like they have a conventional frame under the cover, but not a proper "flat" blade with a pronounced springy curve like you see on Bosch Aerotwins. I find that passenger wiper doesn't seem to contact the far side of the windscreen as well.

If the number son yours are the same then perhaps I just need to give them a more thorough cleaning. It's been such a dry year that I think the constant dust and pollen is wearing the wipers more each time I used the washer jets, than if it was raining more often.

Recently replaced the inserts with some cheap ones from amazon. They seem to work well enough, especially for the price, fixed the smearing I was starting to see with the originals!

The hybrid OEM wipers use 8mm wide inserts, I went for these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0871FY72V but they seem to be pretty standard so any should work, just need to cut them down to size. Swapping the spring bars is a little fiddly, took me about 10 minutes total.
