GR86 Winter wheels & tyres

Is anyone planning on having a second set of wheels and tyres for the winter months and if so what are you going for?

I was thinking of possibly getting a set of rally-style 16 or 17 inch wheels with Michelin Crossclimate 2s fitted for the GR86.

Cross climate 2 seem like the ideal tyre for the UK winter climate.

I'd like 17" and I guess GT86 wheels will be the cheapest. I would like a set of white wheels but not sure which ones yet.

Are there any 16" wheels that will fit?

The Sparco Terra's above are available in white and come in 16 and 17 inch sizes compatible with the GR86.

You're right.

The owner in that video went for a higher aspect ratio to gain ride height in snow.

Not something I would consider doing.

Is there any reason anyone knows of why an old set of Subaru 5x100 alloys won't fit the GR86 for some winter hacking wheels?

As long as they're over on the centre bore you can get some adaptors, and as long as the offset is ok then they should work?

Yes, and presumably the Subaru centre bore should match the 86 as I think it's a Subaru hub. Would also need to use the right nuts, the 86 has conical fitment unlike most Toyotas with flat nuts+washers.

Brake clearance could also be an issue if you are going down to 16s or 15s maybe. Difficult to assess that sometimes without a test fit.

I've seen some 18" and lots of 17" alloys so might be worth taking a punt in some at some point. Probably mid summer with winter tyres already attached!
