GR Yaris Why are so many Yaris Gr owners changing their wheels ?

I was thinking about getting some different wheels on the basis the OEM wheels cost so much. I've been really careful with them yet noticed a couple of stone chips which are pretty hard to avoid obviously. I'd heard the colour of the BBS is hard to match so just feel better knowing I can stick aftermarket wheels on and if/when I sell the car, the OEM wheels will be good. I also think money spent on aftermarket wheels isn't lost as you tend to get some cash back when you sell them on, so I'm really just leasing new wheels (man-maths).

I've hopefully got some Bronze OZs on the way (similar to the previous pic if I'm not mistaken). I don't mind Black wheels on White cars but a lot of the detail of a black wheel gets lost.

The OZ wheels are good. Had ultraleggera on various cars and they are strong, light enough and have a durable finish.

They’re also easier to clean than the BBS wheel especially inside the barrel as there’s more room between the spokes

Bought a Set of 4 new OZ with new Goodyear eagle tyres less than the price of 1 circuit pack wheel without tyre. Makes sense to me with the state of the roads in the U.K.

OZ wheels were meant to be 10kg I weighed them at 8.4 or something so no performance loss over the BBS either

To be honest I quite like the gold wheels against the white too

What size / type are the Oz wheels , can you let me know where you bought them from , with tyres sensors ? Thanks

They’re ultraleggera 18x8 I got them from wheelbase alloys they had 1 set on special offer price including nuts, spigot rings and delivery

TPMS are from GT4play but are the same as aliexpress ones which are cheaper but I needed them quickly.

Tyres are Goodyear eagle f1 AS5 from Costco. I’ll fit easels f1 super sport once these are done

They’re very good in the wet/cold so a great all round tyre this time of year and work on a wet / cold track quite well

I didn't want to hurt the OEM wheels & my favourite wheel/tyre provider had a couple of sets of Enkei forged 18 x 8 40's for $1600, so well less than 1/2 price & they are lighter than the BBS, just (y)

Patiently waiting (or not so much) for some 18 x 9.5 Wed sports to replace them, the Enkeis would look good on a GRC :)

if scrape factory wheel to refurbish is typically £80 but more worrying is am hearing there's issues finding and matching colour code to factory spec so possibly leaving only option to refurbish all 4 to a different colour
Just refurb two. Nobody can see both sides of the car at the same time. ;)

That's exactly the issue and I'm not the only one mightily p'd off that they cannot (or more likely don't want to) produce touch up stich

Multiple reasons. Colormatching is difficult in case of damage. They are stupid expensive to replace, for that kind of money you can get something better in specs that you actually like?
I got a set of used Rays TE37SL's for the price of 2 OEM wheels so that's a no brainer for me.

I did this to see how white would look, did two events before I ripped off the plastidip.
Very few noticed!
I’ve been thinking of that. It really looks nice 👌 White version of the stock Enkei. Very similar to the OZ Racing Superturismo. I like it 😍

Also watch out for OCD, it can eat you alive, while bystanders have no clue what you're on about, not even noticing black vs white side

Looks great in white (y)

Just be careful to match the white, mine was different and while I prefer them white over black (even with the brake dust) it looked not great.
I'm getting the OZ Racing wheels :) I've learned from my experience that cars using high performance big brake kits, it is really important to apply ceramic coating (or any other coating) to the wheels. To maintain the good looks of the wheels and for easier cleaning / maintenance.

I did mine (Oz Racing wheels) with MOHS Gyeon Plus and it makes a difference. I had the whole M2 done and to be honest it was wasted on the body but the wheels and calipers? Every time. I have scrubbed the goo off the calipers now that I have changed their colour. Will get more down the track.
