GR Yaris Who's still waiting

Yeah I was about to write this. My order keeps getting moved, 2022 May order, now "believed" it's going to arrive in June this year, which I'm very doubtful will actually come to fruition.
 
Without wanting to wind anyone up, I've just had a massive result.

My '21 car is coming up to 2 years in May, so I was going to just pay it off. Thought I'd reach out to the dealer and see if there was ANY chance of a cancelled '23 plate car that I could swap into for a box fresh one. Unbelievably a car was being cancelled at that very moment and I'm now taking delivery next week of a new, unregistered black circuit at list price! Madness.

Yes, you're probably right as you don't seem to see many for sale at Toyota dealers, more often at independents or private sales.

Wish i had your luck. I've asked a few dealers to contact me if they get a black cancelled order.

I had asked them previously a couple of times, with the usual expected response. I’ve no doubt that had I not enquired again, at the exact time the order was being cancelled, I’d have been forgotten about. She even admitted that she saw my email and thought “I’ll respond to him later as there’s no chance”. Then it just so happened that she overheard her colleague next to her on a call taking the cancellation. Ridiculous coincidence.

To be fair, it really should’ve been offered to some poor soul on the waiting list.

I got lucky too I placed an order in June 21 and then managed to get a cancelled order that September so I cancelled my original order and got my deposit back, roll on to September 22 I get a call saying sorry we have not been in touch the guy that sold you your car left soon after do you still want it?

I of course said yes and I picked it up in December after selling my first one for just over what I paid for it, they did notice at the last minute that they had refunded me so I had to pay the deposit again.

I feel lucky to have owned two and feel for all those still waiting.

Don’t know how relevant this will turn out to be but Evo changed the Yaris to italics in the knowledge, suggesting orders are complete. Just another bit of circumstantial evidence for the idea that current orders will be fulfilled and the books kept closed.

From the run numbers they’re making / delivering around 275 per month at the moment with around 2,000 cars left to produce of the original 25k which puts final cars in September which matches what those this month have been told.
 
Finally looks like the wait is nearly over
