Following on from my Oz Ultraleggera post they are now on order and should be with me in the next 1-2 weeks.

Has anyone changed tyres from the stock PS 4 as Im not to sure what tyre to purchase as a Summer tyre, Ive seen the EVO review and the Conti 7 seems to be favourite.

Ive always been a PS 4 fan and the Oz wheels at 8 inch over 7.5 inch will put me in the more favourable 225 bracket, Ive asked the question on my old MX5 forums about the PS5 and theres nothing but negative comments from owners running them!!

I will be very glad to get the Michelin CC2's off!!! Apart from the tread pattern which has helped me out in muddy conditions the compound is horrific!!

Totally appreciate that I will probably be the tester for a different tyre but someone may be on one of the premium brands!!

What’s up with the CC2’s?? I thought they were supposed to be better than PS4’s everywhere except hot & dry conditions (ie 48 weeks a year)

I switched out the ps4s quite early on, I find them more of a touring tyre, soft, comfy. I would imagine the ps5 is similar. Can't fault their grip but not much feel IMHO. Premium contact 6 is what I've been using for almost a year from another set of wheels, and they've been great, sharper feeling and makes the car feel a bit more darty with the harder sidewall.
I'm just about to switch to the yoko v107 when the new wheels arrive, very excited about those!

Full Winters - Michelin 225/40 R1 Pilot Alpin 5 - have performed brilliantly. Good in sub-zero temperatures and standing water.

Haven’t driven the 86 onPS4’s but the PS4S on previous wheels were excellent. [bounce/aquaplaning in the wet the only apparent weakness]

My PS4s were removed with only 37 miles on them and shoved in the loft. Have since been running slightly wider Goodyear Vector 4Seasons (225/40) on the OEM rims over the Winter period. In a few weeks I'll likely swap to wheels with Firestone Firehawk Sports, again in the 225/40 size but on new 8" rims.

Maybe on reviews but on my daily coursing of B and A roads they are really in their their element in a few muddy and slushy conditions, front bites in on turning in on slush and mud, any form of acceleration at a reasonable pace on early morning runs shows absolutely no grip in greasy or warmer winter days….just my findings on 4k miles on them

Had those years ago on my 1.8 NC….i wish you luck 👍😂😂

After a bit of research, the newer Firestones get quite good performance reviews for a mid-range tyre. It was either gonna be FireHawk Sports or a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 5...
Update: Further to my last wrt the Firehawks - "Average aquaplaning properties, delayed steering response and clearly understeering cornering behavior on wet roads." Not what I want up here in Scotland! I might have to dig a bit deeper for some Goodyear Eagle F1s maybe?

I should have definitely taken the same winter route as your goodself!
After 8 years on winters I think I must have had a few beers after watching a few reviews purchasing the CC’2s!!
I may well stick with what I know as a summer tyre as I’m comfortable with theirs and mine performance….steer clear of top trumps tyre wise!! 😂

Appreciate your experience on the conti 6, my roads are very rural so I do appreciate a bit of squidgy in the side wall…lots to consider still!!
Cmon Mr Beans….share me a pic of these new wheels please!!! Here!!

Yes they're certainly slightly harsher/louder compared to the ps4s, but worth it imo.

And yes, as soon as they're on, I shall oblige!

If they weren’t fitted correctly the 2 times they had me facing backwards they were 😂😂
Goodyear vector 4 seasons are where it’s at 225 wide. Mine a daily and I have covered 18k miles very sketchy last winter on the PS4s rock solid this winter. I am on stock rims as I have two sets and run 34PSI all round. Summer use I will have to stick with PS4 as I still have an unused set off the spare wheels. Not suprised about the Poor CC2s reviews all say they are low grip not made for RWD sports cars that’s for sure I would imagine there more winterised Primacy =
Bit alarmed about the Firestone Firehawks idea. Used them on a a focus estate nothing wrong with them but there a reason there so cheap. Very predictable though a big step down from PS4. Weirdly have PS4 on my mini cooper S and on there they show none of the low temp sketchy handling

Pretty much the same experience, didn't have nearly the same confidence in the PS4's in the bitter cold as I do with the Vector 4S's. But I'll chuck the PS4's back on come consistently warmer climes. Also running 225's for the Vectors.

I went PS5 and they are fine an similar to PS4. They say they last longer but I doubt they will. Everyone raves about the new Contis but my fitter doesn't supply them as they were always expensive and never lasted and he rated the Michelins higher. I always found Contis would get to 3.5mm and drop away a lot. Michelins work to markers and even a touch beyond. Colder temps are a struggle though

Fitted Yokohama Advan Sport V107 on mine, totally transformed the car for me

Way sharper in every single way but to lose out on a bit of softness that some might value (I don't)

No longer have to wait for the tyres to settle both in turning or even on bumps

Sounds like I made the right choice as this is what I value in handling characteristics. Will be fitted soon! Thanks for sharing 👍
