GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Cracking drive out in the Peak District with @Dav1d this morning. Pleaded ignorance when it was pointed out I had arranged going out on Father's Day but back in good time to receive gifts. Guess which one is the self gift 😁

Yeah that was awesome cheers. Funny to see a car of the same colour in front of me as it was like driving in third person. I wish I’d had a filming set up, as seeing a Yaris was pretty cool especially in the twisty bits where the agility was clear!

Looks like you’re in my neck of the woods, Rich. Any recommendations for decent local Peak District roads that I may not have tried yet?

Sure. Happy to share some GPX files and/or I'd be up for leading a run. Let me know if either any good. Wouldn't take much persuasion for an early-ish run out next Sunday 25/6..

Some files would be good (how to send) and maybe a run. What time do you usually leave?

I'll DM you some files 👍.
Usually meet 7.15 to be driving for 7.30. Any later traffic makes it less enjoyable.
Routes typically 60ish miles finishing at Hassop Old Station for any combination of coffee, cob and tyre kicking that suits.

Took kids to beach with GR and did few stronger pulls from traffic lights - fun car!
It seems to help to have few days off from GR to appreciate its engine and chassis more. If driven daily it becomes bit dull, or lets say too common.
Washed it after making 9J wide summer rims white and putting on drift tyres. Better communication than the narrower ones on even narrower winter rims at > +15°C ambients (topic link). Great fun so far...

I’m with you there. As my daughter is living away at the moment I use her Citroen C1 for a few of my mundane journeys which makes getting back in the GR even more special.

Every now and then I would read comments posted by @Martin GR4 , @Amjad , @p3.auto , @Yaris San & @Onehp about the Continental SportContact 7.

It was actually a post by @DrSetup that prompted me to look into these, now that they are available on the GRY BBS stock wheel size (and at a competitive price). I felt again like when I bought the GRY. So much value for the price!

You don't need my review, as it's too early and I'm no expert. Tyrereviews in their video here mentioned that Continental have set a new benchmark and they provide comparison data to justify this.

Thank you all for pointing me to the right direction!

(For those in Surrey and nearby, I arranged for Riemans to source and fit these. I drove to them from Hampshire and I'm so glad I did. More insights on that experience here).

I'm currently also running SportContact 7's in the stock dimensions and they are even better than the PS4S in terms of feel and performance.
Would definitely recommend

the conti 7 currently at top my preferred tyre followed closely by the F1 SS with the once mighty PS4S now relegated to 3rd,

all good tyres but time moves on so does the quest for best tyre, pad, disc, intake, zorst system and tuner,

haven't really let up since being a petrolhead since time, onwards and upwards

can see what they're trying to achieve with thin tread similar to Cup2 and firm tyre wall all makes for a fast handling sure footed vehicle change of direction, am expecting to give my newly fitted Conti 7's a right good seeing to in very near future

After approx one and a half a year having it off, I tested ESE on again, see if I changed my sentiment.... And... Nope, switched it off as soon as I came to a stop again. Tastes vary but mine is crystal clear....

On the topic of sound, drove a M850i the other day and was pleasantly suprised of the nice engine note and burbly exhaust, nice but not too much, really made the car. Now the GRY sounds dull so am tempeted by some other kind of sound enhancing device without making it much louder, quite a few offerings there now... Which one and how I will justify it to the powers in charge is another topic...

Regarding these Continental SportContact 7, it's probably worth mentioning that their tread depth measurements are the lowest I've come across for new tyres, averaging circa 6mm!

I hope they're hard wearing 😨

They better be, otherwise my posts here will be fundraisers.
For those in UK and buying a set of four there are deals to be had on Michelin Pilot Sport 5s and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, too. £100 a tyre fitted is easily attainable for 'Premium' rubber. Times are tough and folk aren't spending so shop around. X

Yep, my tyres will need replacing this summer, and will be going for the asymmetric 6s. I've seen £380 fitted.
