GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Full Geo and Stage 1 ECU Map, car is transformed much more responsive in mid range and the slight skittishness gone. Stunning. Many thanks to Ben and team.
If it invalidates warranty not a huge concern I want the car as I want it. I will not track the car as that is of no interest to me. I do however drive hard on country roads where the improved midrange is welcomed.

I fully accept what you're saying and can understand the reasons for doing this.
I was asking because I am unsure of the position in these circumstances.
It really depends a lot on your dealer.

Reality is, your warranty "for engine" is over.

But if you have a best friend relationship with your dealer, there can still be something going on :).

String theory will but the map back to standard if ever it has to go in for anything and you want to be safe. Obviously if the engine goes pop (which tbh is very unlikely from previous experience as long as the map has been done properly), your gonna have a bumpy ride.

Litchfield offer a 2 year engine warranty with their remap but the map costs almost £1k. Some Racechip tuning boxes come with engine cover too.

Fitted MFF flaps.

Not quite the 5 minute job I had in mind, but reasonably easy.

The generic flaps fitted by the supplying dealer using a mixture of wood screws are, I suspect, a long way from Akio Toyoda's vision for the car. They are now in the bin
The follow up to this was getting half way to work and getting that "now... did I refit the screw underneath on the passenger side..?" worry.

Turned round.

Drove home.

Got out my old-bloke-getting-down-to-work-on-a-car carpet square.

Discovered I'd not replaced the screw underneath the passenger side.

Inverted the wheelie bin on the drive.

Recovered the screw and a couple of spares.

Stood the wheelie bin back up and refilled it.

Inserted the forgotten screw.

Put the old-bloke-getting-down-to-work-on-a-car carpet square back in the garage.

Drove to work again, this time less worried.

The Litchfield remap warranty doesn't cover track use which is strange.

I was looking to seek clarification on this important issue, so not sure why the 'roll eyes' emoji.
Because any modifications you make can impact warranty claims and the way it was written was like you knew that.

Obviously changing the exhaust and you have a suspension failure would not impact that claim.

I suspected that was the case but I am also aware that some tuning companies provide their own warranties. The question was therefore seeking clarification.
I shall ensure my future posts leave no doubt as to their intention.

Does that mean you will be invalidating the warranty on your engine?
A little bit of further information regarding our engine map. The engine remap is not discoverable by Toyota which we have had this tested and verified by Toyota themselves. The map shows up as a software update. However even though we have tested our map rigorously and have full faith in it not causing any warranty issues we offer our map with an unlimited amount of returns to the factory map and obviously return to our own map at no extra cost. We feel that should be more than enough peace of mind if engine tuning is something you are considering.

That is good to know. Thank you for taking the time to post this.

I still think even if the map shows up as a software update, Toyota, should they dig hard enough could work out it wasn't from them. Sure they could get a hash of the uploaded file and compare it to their known updates, granted speculation on my part as I've never dug into an ECU before, but I do have knowledge of firmware and software engineering.

Don't know for Toyota specifically, but if your car is recovered with engine damage and it is a warranty case, manufacturers can demand the ECU to be sent to them for a little investigation. It's simple really, claiming warranty caused by remapping is fraudulent and if you remap, be prepared to take the consequences. Pay to play.

Ordered all the security. Faraday pouches, disklok and S5+ tracker on the way.

Oh, and I've got a nice long mat coming for van mode.

Test drove it after fitting the powerflex engine and gearbox inserts.

Fantastic improvement to throttle response and gear shift. Really surprised how much it’s changed and very little increase in vibration.

On bumpy B roads it feels much more planted and the ride is improved as the engine mustn’t be bouncing around as much

Bird strike on the way home and got away with it unscathed thankfully!

What is it with birds and GRYs?!:cry:

Got GHOST 2 installed.. but realised it broke my disable start/sop and enable IMT cables. :cautious:

Took her for 1.5hr night blast and shared a nice four wheel drift moment in one corner entry. Just epic machine - too fast for me to go near cars limit, was driving maybe 5/10 of her capabilities

Finally pushed the button and sold it - gets picked up on Saturday morning 😔

Going to miss it badly, but it needs an owner that’s going to put some miles on it.

Probably means I’m not going to be logging on here much, but just wanted to say it’s been nice to be a tiny part of a great car community. If the values don’t go too crazy over the coming years I may well be back at some point - it’s by far the best car I’ve ever owned.

Cheers all 👍
