GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

My first experience of hill climbing was great fun. Harewood Hill, north of Leeds is the longest UK hill climb at 0.9miles. The day started with a walk of the hill to look at lines, camber etc. First run with an instructor also very useful. A few solo runs followed before lunch, which was had watching video footage of morning runs with pointers from instructors of good and less good driving. More instruction and solo runs in the afternoon.

With downhill and uphill sections, and technical corners, full concentration was required and getting it right was a rewarding as it was frustrating when not getting it right. I liked the rhythm of doing a run, chat with and watch other drivers, then out for another run.

If anyone is thinking about it, I would certainly recommend it.

I remember watching Stig Blomqvist setting a fastest time here on an RAC rally in a Saab 96. The stage went down and up and he was so fast going down it made up for the lack of power going up. Unforgettable.

It happened something a bit similar to me... I was exiting a car wash shop, and a brand new Ferrari 296 was obstructing the way out.
I made quite a rude nod to the driver to move away quickly (you know, the Italian way 🤌👉), and he was visibly annoyed, like I was daring offending his clear superiority with a tiny ordinary car.
But he became much more annoyed once his passenger realised mine was a GRY, and immediately bolted out of the Ferrari to ask me everything about the car, while praising it in any possible way... :cool:
 
Found my first stone chip on the bonnet so popped up to Toyota to order the genuine touch up kit. The joys of modern paint. There were 8 GR Yaris in the car park of the dealership. Several brand new mk1’s for sale too.

There is an evidence SF90 getting totaled on a motorway in Finland (albait it was raining so more slippery weather) so maybe that F-driver was just cautious not to get into troubles.
Good example on how youtube and internet horsepower and exotics cars in general convert into real life performance
 
Left Sweden Friday at night in a ferry to Kiel, spent Saturday to Tuesday in Eindhoven, Antwerp Wednesday, Luxembourg Thursday (quick stop in SPA to see the track), Zurich today.
Met a black GR today, Belgium plates. Friendly old couple!
1500km and counting!
 
What did I *not* do. Decided to stay away from a remap despite it being very tempting for a good week, and feel liberated. Having dialled in my current OEM+ setup during the last 2 years and really have no reason to be unhappy, been out all day in rain and dry and it drives and revs out so sweet. Yet realised it remains very close to stock for fuel and WG duty wise, i.e. turbo and engine should be a happy camper for many years to come.

So yes, sometimes the best thing you can do to your car, is to be happy with how it is.

Tomorrow however I expect a package, another set of shoes for the sled.... Shoes ain't mods ;)

I've had my car remapped and now have it put back to stock.

I can honestly say that down my favourite road I'm just as quick in stock form.

Tried it tuned, it pulls superbly, but it's absolutely fine in stock form.
