GR86 Well, are you going to keep it?

Me neither, but now i'm going to be super paranoid about theft
Hmm. I suppose that could be a concern. But then, as there's so few, wouldn't it quite difficult for a thief to sell on without a lot of attention?

No idea, really. I was hoping it would be like the GT86, where it's not really exotic enough to warrant stealing (to sell either entirely or for parts), and also not really fast enough to be much interest to joyriders.

I think it is an awful prospect for a thief. Only 400 odd in the country makes reselling nigh on impossible it will stand out like a sore thumb, it's RHD so no point in stealing and driving straight over the channel to sell in Europe, breaking for parts is the only viable option but you only have a target market of 400 people to sell to, you will be waiting for years to see any return (it's a Toyota they don't break)

Ill be honest yes I'm planning on keeping it for a while. However, with anything if someone ants to offer me/things are selling for crazy money then yes it will go. On the flip side, being advertised at circa £60k and selling for that are two separate issues and in my mind its only worth what someone wants to pay me for it and ill bet nobody will pay anything near that.

I've just turned 50, and I planned on keeping this car until I cark it , but I mean, £60k is a 100% profit, right :p

I'd bite your hand off if you offered me £60k for the GR86. I couldn't deal with the anxiety of owning a car worth that much that no insurer would pay me back for if it was stolen or damaged. Not that I think anyone would realistically pay that much for one.

I'd be very tempted to consider my options at £45k+, as that opens up the market to a nearly new (2021+) Toyota Supra 3.0, BMW M3 Competition or Ford Mustang GT. But otherwise, I'm not planning on selling.

£45k and I'd definitely be test driving a Supra, Alpine A110 or Alfa 4C. When browsing AT the other night it was only at that kind of money that anything I'd rather own started to pop up.

I called Listers in Lincoln and asked about their white GR86, it’s not allowed to be sold for 12 months as it’s their demonstrator, I was offered the option to purchase at the £60k price but would not receive the car until the 12 month period from registration expires, oh, and the GR86 remains in use during that 12 month period, he said we can’t get any more cars, this will be the only car they will have to sell, I almost laughed at the offer, he said we expect hundreds of calls about the GR86, I thanked the sales man for his time, goodbye, he was actually serious, said they would take a 50% deposit now to secure….unbelievable

Great deal! :poop:

I'll be keeping mine. If Toyota can't make a business case for continuing with it beyond 2024 no car company can. If you want a fairly analogue, reliable, relatively affordable petrol sports car this is the last one, buy while stocks last.

I’ll be selling mine and keeping the Supra.

I think the Listers price is. Err. Optimistic?

But. For some people 60k is nothing and they won’t even bat and eyelid at it.

To me. That seems like they are trying to intice a mid level UK YouTuber to take it on and modify etc.

Someone that could potentially earn more money through views, etc. Although that’s not going to stack up if they can’t have it straight away.

Crazy, crazy times

If I was to sell and wasn’t in a hurry I would test the water at around £40k. Maybe with a view of taking somewhere around £37k. That still makes it £10k cheaper than the CTR which seems more justifiable.

You’re right, for some £60k is nothing, but they are probably not shopping for a GR86, no offence intended to anyone on the forum!

This is what makes me uncomfortable, not so much its worth but the ability of getting it replaced in a total loss accident. It's almost like a classic car.

I’d love to know if that actually sold or if Toyota UK made them take it down
