I seem to have bought another car . . .

I bought a 2010 Renault Twingo 1.2 back in 2018 for the sum of £2000. The kids used it to learn to drive and then scoot around in. Just MOT'd it and it had a load of advisories and it was covered in minor dents etc. #1 daughter has her own car now and #1 son works from home (mine!) so doesn't have much need for a vehicle. I was using the car for trips to the shops and collecting firewood, so I *thought* about selling it on and put something on Facebook to my friends to gauge interest. It sold last night . . .

I had been looking at a VW Up! GTI that a local used car place had for sale, so much that I'd had a test drive.

I pick it up at the end of the month . . . (2019 1.0 three cylinder, turbo)

It's another car that's on the list that could replace my Swift. Apparently ESP can't be fully turned off if you want to really chuck it about but there was a mod for this I read briefly. I do like the idea of one as on a decent all weather tyre it would get anywhere.

Probably a mistake on my part, but joined a Facebook group for this model and received this comment:

I'm calling bullshit as even trying to follow up this person gets no response. Just wondering why some random person would come up with this sort of rubbish.
BTW the Car Vertical report is great . . .

I've never used car vertical personally, but the million adverts I see on YouTube imply that even when a car is assessed by a repairer there would be a record, nevermind only highlighting write offs.

Quite a colourful drive . . .

Popped round to my local friendly MOT testers place on the way home, stuck it on the ramp and everything seems in order (was MOT'd on Monday). Bonus it has a Milltek exhaust on it - no wonder it sounds more 'fruity' than usual . . .

EDIT: £600 for a Milltek exhaust for this :giggle:

Looking good!

Had a run out in it on some of my favourite local roads, yesterday and it was as good as I'd hoped. Enough power and road holding was great. It's tightly sprung, but no worse than the GR

Of course, had to pop here for a coffee.

We had a VW up! When they were new, just the 1.0 model but the top spec. I thought it was a great car for blasting around in. Always thought the GT version would be fun! Enjoy...

They are great cars - I've had a Kings Red Metallic UP GTi for a few years now, its still a minter, garaged every night and still on just 8k miles from new with VW service history. Great cars - mine is completely standard and I just invested in a 2nd set of wheels for winter tyres, not that I actually ended up using it much in the winter in the end. I've recently removed my plate and planning to put it up for sale over the next 8 weeks once I decided on an an outlet for it collecting cars / pistonheads etc. It will be missed as it goes most places returning fun and 50mpg everywhere - the perfect little city and A&B road car to enjoy the commute to work.

I really fancy one too. I've had a couple of the cooking models and they were great, very chuckable and adjustable with just the right amount of lift-off oversteer :D
