About 10mins in driving today both usb ports stopped working. They couldn't even charge. I had both Carsifi and my phone plugged to the ports.
They came back to live after turning the car engine off/on
Didn't find any post with similar issues

First big drive in mine today, loads of Android Auto glitches (including one recurring message about "system clock not being set" (it is) then 200 miles from destination both ports die completely. Won't even charge.

Been undecided about taking dash squeaks and the dreaded speaker rattle in for warranty (anyone had any success on this?!?) but this settles it - being 500 miles away from home with no safe/legal navigation is exceptionally annoying especially with just 1k on the clock.

No issues with the USB’s [so far] but their placement [and vulnerability] trouble me.

I found an ‘Audi Ashtray Cup with Lid’ that’s an exact fit to the front cup holder: shields the USB’s & wires and because it’s the right height, provides something of an armrest.

Also leaves the rear armrest free for: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/147...r-mount-for-uv-5ruv?transaction_id=3761122996

[designed for a Baofeng 2-way but works ok with my Mitex]

The ideal USB protection solution would be some kind of armrest that utilises the cup holder aperture with a padded top. [mushroom shaped]

Have you tried another cable? I had some issues initially. A change of lead cured it. The Carsifi thing for wireless AA works well.

Mine was OK for a couple of weeks but was then very unreliable, even with new cables.
I got the system clock message loads of times.
I found that the slightest movement of the USB plug would upset it.
I've gone for AA Wireless now and just have a USB adapter in the glovebox accessory socket for charging.

I've had the error about system time not being set pop up a handful of times, even with Carsifi. I guess it could still be caused by the cable plugged into that, though.

OK, well I've not had it yet, but it's still early days I guess.
No AA dropouts though, which were happening all the time.

I could repeat this word for word

Mine also stopped, both ports, although mine was a little more permanent and needed a new usb unit from Japan.

Toyota Techies at Bracknell reckon that having the phone and carsifi running at the same time may have fried the ports.

On that basis I now use the old charger port in the glovebox with a usb fast charger on my phone and the centre console ones are just for carsifi.

No problems since.
