Hey all. Now that we are all starting to get the car past the breaking in period, I thought it be good to share some good roads/routes. A). to assist with this milestone but also B). To get used the route for when the time comes… I’m based in Northwest so I know the Lake District is a a great starting point but maybe there are some unknown gems out there. (Maybe an included Google maps pics would be great to show the route). Also doesn’t have to be around here, my bro lives in reading so maybe there is a nice bit of road on the way or not far from Reading itself I could try when I decide to drive down to his.

Very useful thread @vinny85 that Id be following closely. Any recommendations for in/around Kent would be much appreciated :)

Shhh! That’s why they’re gems.

I’ve heard that Milton Keynes is amazing, so many roundabouts and not another car in sight for miles metres.

Yeh but Milton Keynes. 😂

This is the road I go to work. Basically the start of the long steep hill and takes you all the way to Sowerby bridge (there’s Baitings Reservoir on the way. https://www.instantstreetview.com/@53.651451,-2.072081,75.86h,-5.47p,1z,4BhDluycSYo3Pv54thL82Q There’s also this turning at the top of the hill which is really a really good road. https://www.instantstreetview.com/@53.659227,-2.039264,42.83h,-5.72p,1z,_Nv_VuK9z8CwvTm92X3wgw I’m sure there are loads of other good routes round here but don’t know the area other than the route I take via sat nav.

Just mind the "yump" not long after the left turn! That road is fun going the other way from Mytholmroyd, especially in the dark. There are some decent roads north and west of Hebden Bridge.
