Evening,

Does anyone know if the “you must get your car under sealed” is genuine or a moth? I bumped into a guy at Bicester scramble today and he said he knows someone who has 2 Yaris GRs and has had both his done. He said they were already showing signs of rust.

Apologies if the question has been asked before.

I live in Scandinavia, lots of salt on roads. Yaris like most cars has lots of steel parts underneath. They will show rust quickly if driven on salted roads. Do I care on a normal car? No. Do I care on a GRY which is roughly twice as dear as a 'normal' car, which I ordered from new, waited the longest yet for it getting delivered and which I plan to keep as long as possible? Yes.

Also interested in this, I live in Scotland so again lots of salt on the roads and plan to use it throughout winter.

I see some people have done lanoguard themselves, others have done more intense under seal but I’ve not found a company nearby who could do it.

Some people also have an under car cleaning attachment for the pressure washer, if you cleaned it well and often during the winter and had a bit of protection on there too that should do the trick?

Going to fully lanoguard and bilthamber UC underneath mine when i get it from brand new

Jap cars rust.....end of. :ROFLMAO:

Out of curiosity, why are you doing both - as they are both lanolin based.

BH takes a bit more prep, so must admit i am tempted to try Lanoguard over the UC after a year or two.

Just because I have alot of both products 👍🏼😅

Also might treat it to an industrial ceramic coating underneath that we are accredited to use. IGL Eclipse.

Thanks for the link, remember reading through it a while ago.

I just got off the phone with http://preserveprotect.co.uk/ just outside of Glasgow.

They have done lots of GR's already and throw in engine protection too, takes about a week and is a similar cost to a decent ceramic coating. Mentioned the forum and that he's seen some arrive off the boat with surface rust.

The place gets a really good write up on other car forums, anyone on here used them?

IT is getting increasingly common to use ceramics on running gear and alu items. I used Gyeon Rim / Mohs left overs from the body and also a little Cancoat before overcoating with UC.

But yeah, the running gear quality is poor on these cars and needs treated.

What would you guys recommend for someone getting their GR in September?
Looking for a DIY solution I can do or should I rather send it in to the pro's?

Lanoguard do a DIY kit for £71.99 at the moment. Looks like a good low-cost solution but not used myself.

I'm going to get my car done professionally immediately once it arrives. Even then I'll inspect my car regularly so nothing get's out of hand. It can get pretty bad fast. I absolutely hate salt and so does everyone I know, still they put it on the roads.

I had mine done with dinitrol. All of the chassis and cavities. I didn't do suspension etc as that makes inspection more difficult. It was a week to do strip, 3 coats, cure and rebuilt. All of the sills, arch trim, exhaust, under tin etc. had to come off and about 40 quid of one use clips purchased.

Like a lot of things this is more about the application quality than the product used. Splashing some stuff on yourself on the drive is not going to be much use.

After reading Deano post above, anyone recommend someone decent around South Yorkshire who can do this for me and who can do it properly please?

Just had ours done with Waxoyl. Fantastic attention to detail. For anyone North West UK would highly recommend Julian [email protected] or on 07970 674206
