Finally got my car today👌.

The tyre pressure screen is showing [email protected] and 1x2.6bar. The manual says they should be 2.4bar, so will let some air out tomorrow. I guess it might make the ride a bit more compliant - anyone else played with the tyre pressures?

By the way, I think the TPMS measures the relative pressure once you have set it to 2.4bar, I just checked mine and they were a bit higher on one side, so recommend everyone checks their pressure then resets the TPMS. I think they pump the tyres up high to stop flat spots during storage, so if they didn’t check them at PDI you might have the wrong pressure even though it shows 2.4bar at startup.

Does the TPMS display the pressure in each wheel? Our C-HR only gives a warning no actual pressures

Yes, shows all 4. Starts off at 2.4bar when cold, then gradually increases 0.1-0.2bar in each tyre as it warms up.

TPMS issue resolved yesterday. Tyres were inflated to 38psi/2.6bar, had to drop them to around 34psi and then reinflate to 35psi/2.4bar, which caused the TPMS light to disappear.

Then I've pressed the TMPS reset button eith the engine running and tyre pressures are displayed correctly on the dash now.

Mine seemed high on the spin last night. This morning was all 2.4. I've never had TPMS before so was cool to see pressures in real time and how they vary depending on how you drive

They default to 2.4bar I think, so you need to check /calibrate them to make sure they really are 2.4 bar

Would be happier if all of my tyre pressure gauges didn’t give different readings…😐

Just checked them with a gauge and were 2.5 so pretty close. Dropped them all to 2.4. Held the button with ignition on until the symbol flashed 3 times. Values are now blank like they were when I picked the car up. They appeared after driving it a bit.

feel suspension transmits a bit of road noise so may try bringing pressures down to 2.2 to see if that makes any difference

I’ve seen a few people running them lower in the US forums for improved ride. Toyota may spec them a bit higher to improve the CO2/mpg figures.

Have also seen some people put extra air in the rears to reduce their grip and make them slide better.

It’s also pretty weather dependant. I set mine to 35psi when it was colder then the next day when ww had that warm spell they’d gone up to 37psi.

Thanks yes that’s a good point re weather

For those of you running a slightly bigger set of tyres (225/40R18) already, what tyre pressures are you setting? I've a feeling that the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons I'll be fitting should be 36psi all round? Anybody know any different?

I'm running the standard 35psi cold on 225 summer tyres , feels absolutely fine. Not sure if winter tyres give specific psi for conditions though

Thanks. For the All-Seasons, I think I'll go with the 36psi all round to start with and then see how we go ...

I think in theory you'd reduce the tyre pressures a touch going to a wider tyre, everything else being equal, but the change from 215 to 225 is pretty minor

I set mine to 2.3 cold but with cold temps and with it losing a touch it's about 2.15. By the time I get to next village it's up to 2.2 and is 2.3 by work so on longer runs it's spot on and I enjoy it. I'll be going to 225's after I get it serviced

Why do I have a low pressure warning on only one tyre?

After a few miles all pressures were upto
2.2, the warning cleared itself. Then the car sat a few minutes and they dropped back down to 2.1 with no warnings. 🤷

It's probably because the the reading isn't precise enough to show the difference and rounds then all to the same figure. If the other three tyres are 2.15 bar, the rear left is 2.11 bar and the low pressure warning is triggered at 2.12, then the car only shows a warning for that one, but the display rounds them all "2.1".

I got annoyed with the warning being triggered in cold weather. I lowered the pressure in all tyres to 1,9 bar, reset the TPMS, and then just inflated them back to the operating pressure of 2.4. It's unlikely that they will ever drop back to 1.9 just due to cold weather, but I'll still get a warning in good time if a tyre does genuinely start losing air.
