GR Corolla Toyota intend to keep GR Corolla production low

Based on the reception it has gotten and also how the FK8 in the US is still sought after years after launch, it shouldn't be a big problem to keep demand up...

Agreed. If it’s as good as it’s DNA indicates then there should be plenty of demand. Toyota may adjust production volumes when they see how demand goes. The US seams to gets plenty of one year only limited editions , eg Supra

I'd imagine they will build up the hype, then slowly increase production of the 'base' spec to roughly meet demand by the midpoint of the lifecycle, and then keep doing the special editions to maintain the 'rarity', with a GRMN in there towards the end (or just after a few years if they plan on making this model for the long term).

The GRC will definitely have a longer lifespan in North America than Europe (if it ever comes here)

i think it has to come here but after 2023.... its the fact they cant build enough of them. And i think we will only get 1 version but with 2 gearboxes.

It's a shame as I think it would have sold well globally but let the yanks have something as we had the epic GR Yaris after all and they didn't! :)(y)

I always thought car (all) companies were in business to make money🤔 If there is a demand and profit in each car why restrict sales🤔 I can see the point with limited edition otherwise is not limited 🤷‍♂️

Something i read quoted about 6500 cars pa, with the split of approx 4/5 being the base.

Sadly i cant find the article now. sorry.

My mate has just moved to the States last week. He says it’s cheaper to buy a nearly new Audi Q3 than a 20 year old Toyota pick-up. They love their Toyotas over there. I don’t think they could make enough GRCs, they’ll be selling over list I imagine.

They will definitely sell over list in the US. The GR86 guys are going mental trying to find a manual GR86 at anywhere near list due to dealers adding “Market Adjustment“ markups to the “sticker price” often 20/30%. The GRC will be a feeding frenzy in the US, sadly the dealers will be the ones laughing not Toyotas customers which they must surely be aware of 🤷‍♂️

Our friends in the US are already anticipating dealer “markups” on the GRC as it’s looking like there will only be 3 per dealership this year. This will be one to watch out of interest to see how far these get marked up by🤔. At least we don’t have to deal with this if we can get an order confirmed on a car , even if we have to wait for delivery 👍

It's crazy how dealers are just allowed to sell over list price over there. We're lucky people.
