GR Yaris Tokyo AutoSalon GRY

From the Toyota UK press release:

To further boost Japanese enthusiasm for the World Rally Championship, special versions of GR Yaris have been prepared for the domestic market, supervised by Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä, who were WRC Champions with Toyota Gazoo Racing in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
 
I think with all these models and concepts Toyota is quite cool company, and mr Toyoda is quite cool Car Company leader.

To limit the specials only to JPN market is a bit boring from this end of the globe, but glad that they still exist!

For me the GRMN rally is still the ultimate spec.
Also those Levin concepts were also really interesting!

To be honest feel a bit amused that either of those RC rally specials are not according GRMN Rally spec.. that maybe tells little bit what the market focus market has been.

Really interesting message from Mr Toyoda. Seems to be saying that he wants to be able to offer green conversions for ICE cars or at least new cars which drive like ICE cars. Hydrogen option or an electric vehicle with a manual clutch and gearbox!?

How good is it to see such an enthusiast heading up such a massive company. Great guy.
 
Wonder how many tens of thousands that will be!!

Queues of people waiting to order the rear "S. Ogier Limited Edition" badge for their GR. :LOL:
 
I get the thinking of it being a JDM only version but it would seem harsh to have special editions of two drivers and not give the fans of said drivers in their home countries a chance to own them. Ogier’s even has French flags! Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking! A lottery like the GRMN would seem the fairest option although I’d imagine the website would crash the moment it goes live.

Press release specifically mentions driving interest in Japan of the WRC.

Yes I maybe overly optimistic. Like retro fitting the parts of the GRMN. I had seen they’d be on sale but for Japanese market only. So a slim chance we’ll be able to import them in the future but at a hefty premium.
 
both these specials have brake cooling channels blocked so build on non Circuit pack model?
oh well. Hope Toyota will not go into this "visual sport models" thing but it is often too common path as it provides easiest money.

I don't think so, they are specifically marketed as the RZ "High Performance" which is effectively the Rallye, the combination of the Circuit and Conv pack over here...

I expect if they make it out of concept, the real ones will have brake ducts, I'm pretty sure I saw a full spec sheet here somewhere and they did have the diffs
