I have some barely noticeable scratches on my windscreen, can't explain how they happened, but annoy me cosmetically.
They are less than 20mm in length and very shallow, almost hairline, you wouldn't notice unless I pointed it out.

I have Comprehensive insurance with Admiral and have Windscreen protection, that is as I read it only £25 in excess.

Should I do the following, being a novice:

1. Go to Auto-glass or somewhere and just get a quote to get it done?
2. Go through insurance?
3. Suck it up and don't bother, live with it.

A few questions:
-Does my No Claim Bonus get affected by this claim?
-Will my insurance likely to go up next year?
-£25 seems like it's worth it, cost wise but I'm afraid of other claim losses that may make it not worthwhile in the end.

Thoughts? Experiences welcome!

Unless it's a chip or a crack that could develop into something more serious I personally wouldn't bother. However if it bothers you and the insurance will cover it as a repair then yes you should only pay £25. You will need to declare on renewal as a glass claim however it's unlikely to impact the premium you pay.

Maybe discuss the problem with a good car detailer? I found this product yesterday which says it can "effectively remove stratches"! No idea if it works and the instructions are a bit of a minefield for DIY use.

Sounds like you have a cat in the area who likes to sit on your car. I have a few very light scratches on mine from this source, inc one on the rear screen, but they're short length and hardly noticeable. I wouldn't bother trying to fix under insurance as it may affect your premium next year (the replacement of my GT86 screen under insurance in 2021 resulted in +£20).

If it bothers you a lot, you could go to a repair shop and pay yourself. I have a small chip that I'm going to have done at Halfords for £40 and there's no insurance involvement.

So these are random scratches, not concentric circles like from dirty/dry wiper blades dragging across the glass?

@gearFX I think @Cambman is on the money as I have been battling with Foxes climbing up on my roof. See my other thread about it.
I'm tempted just to go to Halfords for 40 quid and call it a day.

I would say cat too, if the screen is clean then it will be quite slippy and the cat will slide down it and stick it claws out to slow its decent and if it has been wet then it will probably have grit stuck to its paws for good measure.

Easy enough to Buff ‘em out with a DA polisher and some compound if you have one, or perhaps get it done at the same time as a maintenance valet by your favourite Detailing Company… Doing it on the insurance means a declared claim every year for the next 3-5 years 😕
