For those of you who have multiple sets of wheels, is it a myth or true that the car can remember two sets of TPMS? I saw this mentioned before but am unsure?

The reason I ask is that my car was originally paired with a set of TPMS of course. I then added my winter wheels which had another previously activated set of GR Yaris TPMS. This spring I popped my standard wheels back on, all using the dashboard learn function, all working fine.

I’m now waiting for an aftermarket set of summer wheels (18x8.5) , with the choice of taking the standard 225/40 PS4S and TPMS off the CP wheels, knowing they’re already paired, or getting a third set of TPMS, some 235 tyres, and potentially entering a whole world of pairing pain.

I do have Carista, but I don’t have any TPMS cloning gizmos.

So, three into two doesn’t go, or is each set treated like a new one each time you go through the learning process? Thoughts?

Has anybody not bothered with TPMS for their Track day Wheels/Tyres ? If I just use ordinary valves will it throw up a fault or cause any problem when I put the road wheels back on?

you will just have an error on the dashboard (led) but this will not impact the car/engine

Thanks for that but when I put the road wheels back on will the fault go or will I have to reset something?

Agreed. As far as I can see when swapping wheels, each set is treated as a new one. If you don’t fit TPMS on a set, you’ll just get the dash light.

When fitting the TPMS wheels again, just be sure to put the same ones in each corner. Worst case scenario, all you have to do is go into the dash setting and tell it to relearn the wheel positions again 👍

That's great I won't bother with TPMS on my track wheel set then. I have TPMS on my AMG amd it doesn't mind me moving wheels around, which I have to do regularly as it wears the inside front shoulders out rapidly. Thank guys.

I rotate my trackday set of tires, it only takes a minute to go to the dash settings a relearn the wheel positions again

Hi,

I do not bother with the sensors for my track wheels. every thing works.

Mine 1st winter set found nicely the Car but for some reason recently Car does not find the winter wheel pressure sensors.
Have returned twice - Malfunction, visit your dealer.
Any recommendations?

What do you mean exactly with it does not find the sensors? It just dont show pressures and you see the little light in the dash or you get some other errors? If it just dont show the pressures then i had the same problem. I resetted the tire pressures and did exactly what was described in the owners manual. I drove many hundreds of kilometers and i still could not see any pressure. But then at some random day it finally just showed me the pressures.
So maybe you just need a little bit more patience.
I still have the problem that my rear pressures show me an error. I pumped the tires up to 2,2 bar in front and 2,0 bar at the rear. Front pressures shown in the car are right at 2,2 bar but the rear ones show me 1,9 and 1,8. Maybe the dealer have to reset an error to fix this.

I start the sensor finding procerure - it runs it for a while and then returns error.
Tpms used to work fine earlier this winter for the same wheelset

Yeah that is normal. It was the same for me. But as i wrote at some random day it finally showed the pressures again.

Not that it is such big issue as can check the pressures in garage but for summer track use it is convenient to have pressure gauges in dash.
Let's see if it comes up eventually..

Yes thats true. When i drove with Daniel on the Nordschleife to test the H&R Clubsport he had 2,1 to 2,2 bar at the end of the session. I asked him which pressure he starts with. He said he started with 1,7 bar but 1,6 bar would be even better. Maybe this info helps you a little bit.
I bought this for track to check my pressures and release pressure if needed.

I had an error first time, ran it again and it was ok. Think it can just be a bit flaky sometimes. My guess is that it works out which wheel is at which corner by using the steering angle combined with rotational speed of the wheels? Probably plenty of opportunities for it to confuse itself.

It did freak me out a little when it told me to see the dealer about it though 😆

It doesn’t matter where you put the wheels (sensors), as I find it’s best to just leave the car to find them itself after refitting or changing between sets.
I do have a set that don’t work however, even though my tire guys say they are transmitting a signal
