Yes i will not be taking my fuel fill up gamble quite so far in future...

Once it says no miles left a fill up will be done ASAP

However I disconnected the positive from the battery and all good. ( be careful if you do this as any contact with the bodywork may weld your spanner to the car)

Always disconnect the negative. Same effect, but no danger if you contact the bodywork

Strange one yesterday that the petrol light hadn't come on, even though the display was only showing 22 miles left.

I only managed to get 41 litres in though, which suggests that the miles left display is way out.

I was driving gently as I wanted to avoid filling up on the motorway and had got 48mpg over the hour long drive, so the display should have been showing 90+ miles left.

Need to keep an eye on it

Mine goes down to about 10 before the light comes on. When the light comes on, there's 40-50 miles left in it under normal conditions.
I'm guessing the conservative range is so that no one can run out and then give Toyota the bill for being recovered?

Perfectly normal 43.5L is zero and it calculates range over multiple trips maybe even last 1000 miles. 48mpg isn’t a realistic MPG to base range off. (Cruising at 50mph?)

Reason is to definitely avoid fuel starvation during track / high G moments. If you were on track in the last few litres then in some scenario the car would become lean.

Basically, yes - imitially cruising at 65 as I wanted to get off the motorway before filling up, but then hit the extended 50 limit on the M5 so no option but to slow cruise.

Key thing though is I now know that, irrespective of the predicted range, the light will come on 7.5 litres left which means with normal driving there's about 50 miles left in the tank. So no need to panic!
