I feel your pain! I cut that issue off at the pass and asked them to leave the plates in the car for me to fit.
I had visions of a knuckle dragging valeter winding self tappers into the car all over the place. It was the same reason I asked them not to clean it as it went straight to the detailer for correction and ceramic coating.
