GR86 The manual v no parking sensors

What will you do regarding rear parking sensors?

I have a quote from my dealer that adding the rear parking sensors back would be £250 fitted including VAT. Less than what I had expected, but still a price that we shouldn't be paying. Interestingly, front parking sensors are also available at £250 fitted including VAT.

I hope the OP and I are not the only ones unhappy about Toyota silently taking away standard features 7 months later. It isn't about the looks of the rear parking sensors, but it's about Toyota's questionable practice. Can one still trust anything listed as a standard feature by Toyota in the future? I would still like to see some sincerity and accountability from Toyota at this point.

I have just sent a detailed complaint email addressed to Robin Giles, Director of Customer Services, regarding the unannounced deletion of standard equipment. Let's see what their reply will be.

Unfortunately I don't know what you will get out of it. As posted in post #11, there is a disclaimer with regards to exact details of standard equipment. They will simple apologise and refer to that disclaimer, it's not unheard of for this to happen.

There's no harm in complaining. To quote Homer Simpson... "The squeaky wheel gets the oil".

Thank you for your replies. I think it’s a matter of principle. Even if we don’t talk about the value of the equipment change, they should have been the ones being open and honest about specification changes. It shouldn’t have require constant chasing after by the customer for them to just admit to that one customer of a specification change (or inaccurate information as they claim here). If Toyota UK just says sorry not sorry, they would have no credibility. There are other manufacturers dealing with this kind of equipment changes with an honest, credible, and accountable approach.

I am guessing you didn’t get a response?

I did. I was told that while they took care “to ensure information presented on their website is accurate and up to date”, there “may be instances of errors and omissions”. And that customers are advised “not to rely exclusively on this information when making any associated purchase decision”.

But as a goodwill, they will install the parking sensors for me at the designated dealer.

Are you getting a new bumper, are they cutting holes and re-painting, are they sitting on top of the bumper or how does it work?
Could be seriously ugly depending on what they are..

Dealer quoted me 500€ for rear sensors and said front sensors can't be retrofitted...

Thanks for the update!
Kind of hard not to rely on their spec sheet on their website when they forced us to only order online 🤣

Good question. I will find out tomorrow. I was told the sensors are painted in the same colour

Interesting they look Oem from factory, how long did they take to fit? And does it work as it should alongside the camera?
Didn’t ask about the duration, but My car was in the dealership for just over a week. The sensors provide audio feedback only

Are there any on the front? That’s my main concern with the low front lip.

Thanks for the various posts about the missing sensors, and the rear view mirror auto dip.

This morning I’ve mailed Toyota and will await there response. I did mention that they had agreed a FOC dealer fit for the reversing sensors, and as such has set a precedent.

Precedents are useful, because they can’t duck out of accepting they have given a refit gesture to some, and not for others.

In all honesty I’m not fussed about either item, but if they want to do something else, like knock 50% off the spoiler or thrown in the first service as a FOC then its a little “win”.

I’ll update you, as and when I hear back.

I had requested for either the parking sensors installed or a discount on the car of that amount. I was only given the parking sensors option

At least you were given something. And as such (without naming you) it gives leverage, they have given you the sensors rather than the middle finger 👍
