No it's not what you think you filthy reprobates.

After cutting across me and almost taking my front end off earlier, this lovely fellow road user responded to my very gentle use of the horn (to make her aware of my presence) with "go f**k yourself", and I wondered if it would be worth the bother.

Oh that was only the average at that point on the journey today. Ending up just over 38 today, which I get quite often on a long journey. I'm guessing I'm about 35mpg on average.

That seems really reasonable - what sort of driving would you be doing to get 38mpg? Would you need to be steady cruise or taking it easy??

It was 300 miles. Probably about half of it on dual carriageways sticking to the speed limit which was mainly 70mph, but some 50 and 60 limits too. Then 25% on a and b roads just going with the flow and 25% clear a, b and country roads, having a bit of fun / maybe too much fun on occasions.

I also always try to keep momentum and anticipate the traffic ahead, so probably don't break / accelerate as often as other road users when on my travels. I'm really pleased with the economy for what it is. You can eke it out to 40mpg if you want to, cruise at 36-38mpg, or have some fun and watch it drop to below 30mpg.
