GR Yaris (Gen 2) TGB Product Launch Bulletin Incl Aero Performance Model

Yeah in my opinion they could have picked nicer design (maybe the one used on Rovanpera edition), but also I think for a road car I really like the silhouette of basic yaris. Also as a WRC fan, rally 1 version kinda ruined all more down to earth rear wings for me :ROFLMAO:
The rovanpera wing is hideous 😂 would much more prefer a rally2 wing.

I don't know, I probably prefer it over on the road version of yaris :D But if I would get a wing give me that proper rally1 aero monstrosity! However I can't imagine the mpg with that thing :D

It would be logical. Generally at least here in Slovakia its getting harder and harder to sell manual cars with people preferring autos, even in performance models. Uncle could not sell manual JCW Mini in mint condition for months without going seriously under the original price.

It’s sort of the opposite in the US. Performance cars with a manual are in high demand and the price gap is wild. A clean E46 M3 in an SMG will sit for months, while the same car with a 6-speed sells almost instantly for at least double the price. This applies to virtually any car still available as auto and manual (MX-5, Mustang, etc.). The G80 M3 manual still makes up around 20 percent of US sales, so BMW keeps offering it. My guess: the next M3 (allegedly sold in both ICE and EV versions) is very likely to still have a manual option because the demand’s too strong there.

Got some interesting technical information today about the changes to the engine/drivetrain due to the new EU emission standard. See below some translated information from my Swedish dealer:

Technical changes from October production:
  • Adaptation to Euro6e-bis regulations
  • Horsepower: no change
  • Max torque: from 390 Nm to 345 Nm (−45 Nm)
  • Automatic transmission (AT) removed (does not meet Euro6e-bis)
This also counts for 2026 UK models I suppose.
Just to try and understand this

This impacts GRY produced from OCT 2026 onwards, right? If somebody orders the car soon, it is not affected by this!?

I m specifically interested for Germany, so same dates apply here?

October 2025 I believe as the Euro6e-bis was for new models on sale during 2025 and as of 01 Jan 26 applied to all cars on sale.

OK...thanks

So it is already in effect as we speak for newly ordered cars from now

But what happens to existing, pre-produced cars (made within 2025)?

Btw, Toyota still shows unchanged torque figures: https://www.toyota.de/neuwagen/gr-yaris/spezifikationen
Also the AT still seems to be available for order from their website...

I ve read that this is no mechanical/hardware modification, but rather software/mapping

Are they going to software update existing cars to downgrade them?

It’s a bit of an unknown. Some European countries have publicised the change in the spec listed on the website others haven’t it’s an assumption it covers all European nations but seems a reasonable assumption.

I mean, other than the people who dig into it (like here on the forum), it cannot be expected that the average buyer checks whats the Euro classification, let alone those that are modified at some point later, like in this case

I d take what they mention on their official site seriously and if any such deviation that they assumed I should/would know wouldn't sit well

45mn is not quite neglectible figure. Not to mention that this car performance has already being crippled by our wise EU legislations, and that many other markets enjoy +20HP
