GR86 Test Drives Email!

Are they actually expected to sit with us? My test drive in the GRY back in September involved him giving me the key, saying that any speeding tickets were my problem and requesting I be back in about 30 minutes 🤷‍♂️

That how my GR Yaris drive went. Young lad gave me an hour, was on my own, mentioned the excess was £250 if anything happened to which I responded "Bargain!" He went white :ROFLMAO: Gave it back having done 9mpg
 
Contacted Helensburgh Toyota again (nearest GR centre). Have been helpful but the question of, which dealer are you going through at the end of the email fills me with concern that they won’t be the easiest to arrange Test drive with. So we shall see
 
Just wondering if you have a test drive before paying for your car, does that mean that distance selling regs no longer apply (14 days cooling off after purchase etc?)

What they're trying to avoid is people buying their car and within 14 days deciding they want to return it and then Toyota having to deal with that hassle and having delivery mileage cars returned with additional owners on them.
 
I wonder if there is a way of taking those test drives not being taken up by those that have been offered one? :unsure: :sneaky: Just saying.

I’ve asked my dealer if I can have a go when the December orders are done. I’m a 2024 expected delivery. Don’t see why not?

If you have an order you’ll be offered a test drive, and I guess it will be soon, or never….
I would imagine there is zero chance of there being any demos available to test drive after 2 or 3 months max, and certainly no demos will be around in 2024. Demos will all be sold.

It’s not a game changer but be nice to have a go to see if it lives up to expectations. Especially if we are let loose on our own 🤞🏻

GR86 - Test Drives Email!

Not a test drive, but Toyota GB will have a GR86 on display at the Javelin track day at Oulton Park 30/11 - so for those in the North West it will be a good opportunity to take a good look at the car in a couple of weeks time.

When I get any contact from them I plan on been cheeky and asking if I can have the car for a few days given the closest dealer to me with a demo on the list is over an hour away.

If you’re getting it from Lincoln then they get their demo later this week. Me and one other customer (collecting a GR86 from them in the next two years) are the only two people allowed to drive their demo apart from the “sales handover” person who is going to Goodwood tomorrow to be taught how to thrash one round a track and then conscientiously hand them over to customers.

Apparently when the two demo drives are done it’s going in the showroom so everyone can see something they can’t have. Don’t know how long it will stay with them before Toyota want it back.

I’m booked in for Monday next week.
 
I spoke to the closest dealer to me (Leeds) earlier today and they said they’re not getting their demonstrator until the end of November and they’ll call me when I can drive it. This seems a little off, given most of the demos should be arriving this week but if that’s what they say then that’s what they say.

I also got a call from my nominated dealership who said my car was on the system to arrive with them on the 2nd of December but I don’t know whether that’s just another placeholder.
