I have a personal plate on my car, GR 06 (and some other letters) and I've approached numerous on-line and real life registration plate manufacturers to try and get a solitary '8' on proper number plate material, for front & rear to stick over the '0' when I'm at an event like JapFest. No one is able to! The "machines are all computerised" or "can't you just get a whole showplate made up". I want it to look like it's stuck over (and I also don't want to forget to remove it!). Any ideas ? Any one on the forum do this sort of thing?

I'm fairly sure that most on-line plate manufacturers will do what your asking so long as you clearly state that they are for show purposes only.

Find the cheapest plate manufacturer (can get bog standard front and back for under £15) and get out your trusty circular or jig saw? I'm assuming you just want the single number on a little chunk of material, which you could get by cutting up a plate.

Alternatively buy two "4D" numbers and apply with bit of adhesive?

He is after a letter not a whole plate.

It's an unusual request. I would approach a vinyl making company as opposed to a plate manufacturer.

Unfortunately not - I've approached quite a few and it's not something they will do (or even consider), which I find a bit odd.

DMB do mine for me however they're basically just reflective stickers.
Get 'show plates' made up and use them, they seem readily available

Show plates are certainly the easier option. I’ve had full graphic plates made up by ‘Donegal Signs’ on eBay for my KonaN and GR86 (created the graphic myself and emailed it to them). However, I did leave the Edinburgh show last year with one still stuck to the front and luckily got waved down by a photographer. As they are held on by suckers it was an easy remove thank goodness.
You could of course, just buy a blank plate and do your own digits.

Result!
I had a chat with a stall that were making number plates up at Japfest and instead of a whole section of number plates, I bought a couple of '3d' number 8s. Can now stick them over the 0 as required (on private land of course!)
