Hi all,

My GR is incoming soon... looking forward to it!

Anyone considered using Suspension secrets?

As an alternative to String Theory's height adjustable springs?

I'm going to sound like my dad, but can i suggest that you drive the car for a few thousand miles to get used to it and then decide if Toyota have got it wrong?

Looking at the kit though, is that 25mm lower than the base/conv car or the already lowered circuit pack car? Are their comparisons against base or circuit? Would you notice the difference on the road?

This.
Missing a trick being unable to corner weight the car
Yes. But does it matter on spring rates around 4kg/mm? Let's just say I will be mighty impressed if someone can tell the difference between same length springs with a few mm tolerance out, and a corner balanced car. Track car with 25kg springs is an entirely different matter....

Handling pack, yes geometry changes can transform a car, lowering springs make a car look cooler and perhaps shifts the handling sweetspot towards faster/smoother surfaces, but I would take that description about the springs with a grain of salt.

The base car is pretty good and the biggest limitation is behind the wheel usually...

I've not driven a circuit pack. After driving a conv pack I decided that, as I wasn't planning on using the car on track, I wouldn't want it any firmer than that set up.

An "upgrade" to circuit pack springs, dampers and arbs might be something to consider in future though, so perhaps I should encourage owners to buy new suspension packs so that there's a supply of lightly used circuit pack suspension available used :-)

From what I hear, the team at Suspension Secrets is very knowledgeable, so I would discuss with them your use case and what matters to you. Best to ask yourself this first and most importantly be brutally honest as many will purport their ideal use case instead of their actual use case as it is far more exciting to think about. From there you can go on about compromise ratios etc to fine-tune what is the best product for YOU and how YOU drive.

I also stand corrected @Gyp , rear springs are identical:-

Suspension - CP vs Standard.webp

Personally, I reckon Conv. Pack suspension is pretty much ideal for the road. Although I have installed String Theory springs to lower by 20mm and it seems to ride even better than standard, I suspect this is down to Eibach springs which are softer than CoP initially but get progressively firmer (disclaimer: I barely know what I'm talking about)

you can’t go throwing those kind of convenient truths out with reckless abandon 🤣

I am categorically the weak point in the cars potential, my middle age sensibilities blight my driving ability regularly!

My comment was in reference to the fact that String Theory offer a similar package but with adjustable mounts for the springs. Suspension Secrets adds the caster bushes to their 'package' instead (as well as the rear camber arms). I suppose the caster bushes give the option of going a lot more than -3 on the front.

Yes I know. Adjustability is always nice to have for various reasons. Just calling out the limited benefit of corner weighting.

Caster ain't camber, if anything it allows for less camber straight on while keeping cornering grip as camber increases more when turning...

If they are true to their name, suspension secrets, a well done set-up can do wonders, still, I would sample the car as is first on the roads one uses, and adress issues as they arise in ones driving...

Case in point ref drivers and handling 'improvements' over stock.

Stock car:

Modified car:

Not sure the modified car did better, handling wise it looks less resolved... Looks like jolting when hitting bumpstops, typical for lowering springs...

Without knowing what was done, the latter was, I assume, trying to improve something...
