Just wanted to make a post showing the half cage we have developed with Custom Cages here in the UK.
I'm sure many of you know Custom Cages already, but for those that don't they are based in Daventry and have 35+ years of experience in making cages to MSUK/FIA Spec in WRC, BTCC, GT4.
There are a few cage options on the market, but none of them really met the brief for us so after some conversations and recommendations we ended up working with Custom Cages.
These come in at just under 25kg
Made from CDS (Cold Drawn Seamless).
Custom Cages uses a CDS of a much higher specification. Originally designated CFS5, but nowadays called E355. When produced with the required heat-treatment this has excellent properties for basic roll cages.
Properties:
- Tensile strength – minimum 510 MPa.
- Yield strength – minimum 370 MPa.
- Elongation – minimum 25%.

- No Modifications to OEM Interior
- It has to work with OEM seats and aftermarket options
We started by having the rear of the car 3D scanned, so that we could ensure a tight fit without needing any OEM plastics cut.
We had the car back and forth a few times so that we could work a solution for the harness mounting and the seatbelt mounting points. We settled on a piece that mounts where the original belt mounts.
The fit is perfect, rear seats can be retained (with the seat folded down) or can be used with a rear seat delete kit.
We offer them in Satin Black as standard, however the cage can be supplied in custom colours ( the above was specified in white by the customer )
They take around 2 Hours to fit and again, require no reversable modifications to fit.
