Are there any Subaru technicians on here?
Unfortunately I don't get to use my 86 as regularly as I would like, consequently it lies dormant for a couple of weeks. On start up, being on choke, the engine will race to ~1200rpm then settle down to ~1000rpm and then finally after a few minutes settle at a steady tick over. My concern is initial oil starvation (I'm sure Subaru/Toyota have taken cold starting into account during the design). I had a Impreza and if the engine was flooded, simultaneously dipping the clutch and accelerator to their fullest extent the engine turned over without starting. Would this be a sensible approach to starting the 86 after a long break to first build up the oil pressure before allowing it to fire up?
