I know I could just e-mail them, but I like to get my information from vague second-hand sources and nutters on the interweb.

So, does anybody know the exact difference between the motorsport and aftermarket version?

Both seem to be flow-formed, but the motorsport version is available at sizes wider than 8.5", while the aftermarket version isn't? Surely it doesn't make any sense to offer different sizes if there aren't any actual differences?

Also the motorsport version is usually photographed with a sexy deep dished center, while the road versions look much more tame.

I wonder if they use a couple different wheel blanks for different offsets and widths, so there is probably a range of offsets and widths that result in the racy recessed hub look, and vice-versa, if you get a narrow wheel with a high ET, then you get a more shallow and flatter looking wheel?

Thinking of getting a 9x18s for a track set.

You called?

I don't have any particular details, but here's a bit of info I posted in the 'other place' with some photos showing the differences:

I think the motorsport version is slightly lighter. I don't have any scales in the house so couldn't weight them though before fitting the tyres.

I could only find a few places that sold the motorsport version, RallyNuts and Larkspeed - I got mine from the latter in the end.

Forgot to add other difference is the centre bore (had to get 67.1mm to 60.1mm spigot rings).

In t'other place, a chap said that Speedling could do any spec of wheel size, width, ET, bore etc - for a minimum of 25 wheels, so was trying to get a group buy going but everyone wanted different specs so it didn't come off.

Thanks Chris, your post on the darkside actually made me aware of the differences. The Evo fit (8x18, ET35, CB67.1) is certainly an option, but I'd prefer to have a bit higher ET and a wider width to achieve the same look.

I'm just not quite sure if for example 9 inch width and ET40 would give me the same look. I suppose it depends on the blank they use. I'm assuming they start with a half-finished product and then "flowform" the wheel to its final width?

Have you considered Braid wheels, again motorsport / rally wheel manufacturer but can make the wheel with any offset and no minimum order.

The wheels do look quite similar to speed lines as well

If you want you can even have your own design of wheel made, if you send a sketch in
I actually already have Braid wheels for the winter! Amazing value for the money and fact that they're made to order to your specification is remarkable at the price point. Just looking for something a bit different for the summer with more spokes.
