I’m about to pull the trigger on ordering the rubber- 245/40 Eagle f1 SS. Probably a bit on the wider side for 8.5” but it’s not without reason

I’m hoping the appearance won’t be too dissimilar to the guys running 9.5” et45 setups. I’m aiming to retain some of the playfulness without adding too much tram-lining associated with lower offsets etc
The AMF TC-105X’s are amazing anyway, forged seem OTT for my application perhaps. What a piece of engineering though.
The opportunity was too great to miss them (I keep telling myself).
How is a bigger diameter / larger circumference giving you a lower speed?
.... reading. Larger circ. means wheel spins slower for a given speed, hence speed readout on speedo will show a lower speed.
If that is what they mean it is poorly worded. They are saying reading, which I interpret as speedo reading and the others are actual speed. This is wrong and suggests road speed will be lower than before for a given speedo reading. Simply not true. Even your explanation suggests lower road speed. At a given engine speed when the old tyres registered 60mph, the new will be 63 or 64. Better to tell people what will occur rather than cite a hypothetical that has no practical application. When I had the AD08R in 225/40 18 road speed was 4% lower than indicated speed. So 100 on the speedo was 96 real kph. I fitted 235/40 18 and the difference reduced because the 235 are bigger diameter/circumference than 225. Even more than just 2 x 40% of 10mm on diameter because the semis had less tread depth when new than the tyres that replaced them. But sir my speedo said I was only doing 60...

It could be worded better, indeed more correct would be previous reading and new reading. It wouldn't even confuse the large majority that doesn't realise that speedos generally overread.

"Reading at 30mph" means "What the speedo reads when you're traveling 30 mph." At 30 mph the original setup will show 30 mph on the speedometer (well, would if they were generally calibrated accurately) and the new setup, with larger circumference, would show 29.27 mph on the speedo (again, if calibrated).
Reading at 30 mph: 29.27 mph
Still a stupid way to show you are going faster than the speedo says.

Hi Rab,
Got them from Tegiwa Imports. They had a discount on their eBay shop. In my mind it worked out as - 4 for the price of 3 or forged for the price of cast equivalent.
It took exactly 1 month from ordering to them been delivered; thought it would be way longer.

Get the same size in Advan AD09's....a much better tyre IMHO and I've ran them both in 245.
