Just out of interest does anyone know how much of our cars share parts with others in the Subaru and Toyota range?

I'm aware that the engine (at least in turbocharged firm) is used in other Subarus and that the platform is based on a modified Impreza.

Any others?

I couldn't give a figure but its basically nothing, aside from hardware and perhaps a few small ticket items.

Toyota were a major player in the development, but not the production, that’s all done by Subaru at their factory in Gunma, Japan. There will be nothing from Toyotas parts bin that would be shared on this car. I remember the Toyota emblem on my GT86 had Subaru stamped on the inside of it.

The 86 is neither Subarus’ SGP or Toyota’s TNGA platforms, it isn’t based on any existing chassis. So there is actually very little it shares, although it has lots of Subaru DNA, it is a bespoke car, even the engine, most of the FA24D and FA24F part numbers are different.

Cruise control stalk is shared with almost every Toyota and Lexus of the last 30 years
