Hi all,

I'm nearing my 1st service since picking up the car back in March (it's great having a daily with a short service interval haha).

Does anyone have any recommendations for servicing in the Kent/Sussex area? I've seen that SLM Hastings has a GR centre there but I can't find reviews on their servicing on GR cars on places like TrustPilot.

TIA,

Chloe

I use SLM Hastings, and no problems at all. A friend of mine is in charge there if you do have any problems. If you mention the forum, they should give you a 20% discount.

I recently had mine at group1 Toyota Maidstone for a 24k mile service. Everything perfect and had all the correct part numbers for the oils.

Abbey Toyota Redhill (Surrey)

A different world compared to the usual franchises and their operation model where you normally only get to speak with a junior gatekeeper, someone who doesn't know much about cars, let alone the GRY, and doesn't want to know either. A couple of years ago, I phoned a few garages in the South East area and circa 8 out of 10 gave me profoundly wrong and warranty-voiding advice for the simplest question about the GRY (service schedule); all with a rather singing-like voice, though, and full of confidence.

That one's not too far from me either, probs about 30 min down the road! Yeah I was concerned with dealers not knowing what the car is, point proven by where I bought the car from (Crawley), they put the interval down as 18k for the next service

It's reassuring that places like Redhill, Maidstone and Hastings know the car so they sound all like solid choices, I'll update on here when I have the service done :)

Has anyone used Steven Eagell Ashford Toyota?
My GR86 is coming up for it's first service, but when I spoke to the service department to ask if they could look at something in the engine data logger they said as it was a Subaru motor so they couldn't? So that's kinda shaken my faith in taking it to them.
I'm tucked away in East Kent so Maidstone and Hastings are both an hour away, but I'll make the trip if it's needed.

Ojcrow, can you please list those correct part numbers for the oil.
I say this as up to now mine is used just for steady road use but next year I plan to do scotland a couple of times including the NC500 and would like to make sure my local Toyota dealer puts the correct parts and oil in for the 4th service.
On the 4th service - major, what should be changed and I should be checking they are changing them.

Thanks.

No problem mate, correct oils are the ones I crudely highlighted. (engine, rear diff, front diff and gearbox)

I’ve also attached an image of the check sheet I was provided after my 24,000 mile service.

Thanks for that Ojcrow.
I will now take these in when I book it in for its year 4 service.

+1 for Abbey Redhill, Dave & Steve look after my GR and have always done a good job.

No issues for instance replacing all drive line oil's when asked for instance.

Whilst the front building looks fairly standard and non descript, this car sits in their reception / waiting area which is re-assuring ;)

Abbey Redhill gets my vote too. Very professional shop, zero complaints from me and my 86. Chosen over multiple more accessible dealers as its a bit out of the way for me, but peace of mind is worth a considerable sum.

Abbey Redhill gets my vote too. Although they told me that the automatic switching on of the recirculation couldn't be switched off. Subsequently discovered that it can.

I’m late to the party and youre probably now sorted but a GR centre just means they get a demo car. All servicing staff are trained the same.

The correct Engine Oil should be AP-SP GF-6A 0w20.
It looks from your check sheet you only have SN oil, which is not for the GR Yaris.
My Toyota Dealer buys my oil in for me as they have no stock of the proper stuff.
