Event [Rescheduled] Now at Oulton Park 30th November All Toyota Track Day (Was at Donington Park Wednesday 16th November)

Thanks to all involved with organising this! Fantastic day out. Did anyone get some pictures as I forgot to snap some🤦‍♂️

I put on an old set of tires for this thinking they would be worn out after the morning, but they weirdly have around the same amount of tread on as when I started, between 1.6 mm and 3mm. My new pads however tell a different story

New on the day before and looking about half worn. 🤦‍♂️

Hopefully Grant and his mate got home safe and haven’t been to badly shook up after what was a big enough bump.
Thanks for the loan of a corner of the garage for my stuff. None of which I used all day.

That looks like you need to get some sort of additional cooling to the brakes, chewing through pads that fast is a sign they’re getting too hot.

Thanks to all who made it a fab day today. Was great to see some of my old friends and make new ones. I enjoyed doing passenger rides all day, sorry if I missed anyone. Was crazy busy either lapping or chatting with everyone. Also got a ride in Adrian's (Fensport) car which was a lot of fun and made for a mad experience given I couldn't see over the dash as the seat was so low! It was fast though, very fast in high boost mode and I got to watch Adrian drive. His car looked pretty easy to handle which is a good sign. He's asked me to review it and after going in it, I'm very interested in doing that and not particularly scared by it. I didn't feel I had time to drive it today so will hopefully have another day either at a sprint or another Toyota track day where I can plan better and have a good
What ever my fat fingers have pressed I can't not send a reply to this post. 🤷‍♂️ But glad you had a good day Lauren and looking forward to driving that monster fensport Yaris.

My EBC Blu Stuff pads have been absolutely fine on sprints, but seemed to really struggle after two or three flying laps. I could drive round it and thought I wasn't being particularly heavy on them, but it does make me think that the pads are struggling after a just a few laps.
Sadly this is my experience of their "stuff" range too, doesn't seem to stand up to the heat for more than a couple of laps. The RP1s I have in now seem good though.

yep - I won't be using the "stuff" again. RP-1's are the next pads to trial - all reports thus far seem to indicate forthcoming happiness :) Also quite interested in the Tarox discs as the OEM's need replacing. Look the part.

my fave pic of the day :)

Had a good day out, quite enjoyed the Oulton track. Great to catch up with familiar faces & meet some new ones.

Unfortunately had to cut it short as my brakes also had some issues, when they heated up was getting some shaking. Suspected a warped disc even though I did short runs letting brakes cool in-between, but opinions from you guys was that it be unlikely and more likely the pads. Driving today pretty much confirmed it with telltale 'surges' in braking.

Heard that one chap who got warped discs got them replaced under warranty, will be taking to Toyota to get their opinion. Anybody else experienced this?

It takes a hell of alot to warp a disc. .. Most issues with juddering is from pad deposits on the discs from a number of reasons.... Pads too soft or pads left on the disc when hot and stationary in the pits. I used to move my car half a disc in the pits every now and then after a good session.

Oh and heard of more and more people wearing a set of oem pads through to the metal on one day on track.... So regular checks needed.

same and typical disc build up, happens on most on t/d...I just drive thru it, discs were super smooth on drive home

I had the same, but it's the pads not the discs. I just drove it through it and carried on. It was annoying but once I'd figured the brakes were still working and it was just a nasty feeling on the pedal and some noise, I could still stop, so I didn't worry about it. Would say it's just the pads overheating. Once I'd left the circuit and they had cleared a bit, they are fine again now.

exactly this

I was asked prior to Oulton about pad wear on the Tarox pads I have fitted all round with their discs up front. I have attached pics of the 2 front calipers after oulton and brands track days and about 3000 road miles. Fuel used at both track days was approx 3 tanks. Would be interesting to get comment from Yarisan.

looks like minimally wear for the given use, what they like for retardation and price v's factory pads

Would have to check invoice, around £145 I believe
Front Pads (corsa) £150, rear pads £130, Front discs £800, all prices ex vat. Cannot compare with std on track as I never drove the originals on track, but can report huge stopping power no fade and 2kg less weight per disc
