GR Yaris Rear differential and transfer box oils

Yes but not with that oil.
The rear diff is supposed to have an ls friction enhancer in it.
You could then use an ls oil in the transfer as well .

Just to complicate matters the ls oil is not required for torsen diffs as there are no clutches but that’s what toy specify. ( it’s most likely a mistake but that’s their spec)

Has anyone in Aus tried the Nulon Ezee-Skuezee (Actual Name) 75W85 Oil? It says on the website that it's meant for LSD's and is GL-5 compliant. My butthole still hurts from my trip to Toyota to get the stupid cans, I got rimmed over $300 for the Gearbox Oil, Cabin Filter and Diff Fluid

The price of $25 is much more civilised, and its ezee skuezee too, which I also like in comparison to the cans

Not sure if this is old news or if I had old part numbers but Yoshi Parts notified me that the LV is being replaced by a new (part#) LX fluid.

To paraphrase:

Toyota Genuine Manual Transmission Geal Oil LV" (Part # 08885-81007) and
08885-02606 Toyota Genuine Parts Differential Gear Oil LX...are both replaced by 08885-81070
Toyota Rear Diff Oil LX 75W-85 GL-5

Can anyone help me verify if the LV is in fact superceded by the new LX fluid/part# or if I had my initial part numbers wrong?

As stated in the thread you wouldnt use a GL5 in a gearbox where GL4 is specified. GL5 usually has a chemical that can damage the synchro rings. I think there must be some confusion.

Interesting, i didn't know that  I just changed the transmittion fluid to Motul Gear 300 75W-90 as it was recommended somewhere for the GRY. This oil is specified for GL4 AND GL5. Should I be worried? 🤔

Looking at the Specs that should be ok. The viscosity is a little heavy for a transmission though and it has the extreme pressure additive's that are not needed in the GR transmission. How does it shift, especially when cold?

No that motul 300 is an ester synthetic for synchronised manual gearboxes. Motul ester based oils are top quality.
I’ve used 3 different oils in my gearbox , the Toyota oem, Fuchs semi synthetic and a millers full synthetic race and it shifts better with the millers than anything else.
Oddly you can use an oil that is too slippery for the brass synchros so it doesn’t always follow that the most expensive is the best in regards to shift quality. It is often a dark art.

I use that everywhere, as above, motul stuff is top notch. In some cases the GL5 pressure additives can damage brass synchros, but the gear 300 specifically says it’s fine for that. Haven’t noticed it being any harder to shift.

The thing is synchro mesh cones rely on friction to work but oil reduces friction so it's a bit of a balancing job to get it right.
An oil with a higher viscosity will make shifting harder. As the two synchro cones contact each other during a shift some of the of the oil is squeezed out.
I am using Red Line 70w75 MT-LV which is probably the best oil I have use over the years regarding shifting feel. It's not cheap and a little hard to get in OZ.
The Motel 300 would be better suited to a Subaru which combines a bevel gear and pinion inside the transmission to drive the front axle so it needs the extreme pressure additive.
