Many thanks for the second opinion. You were correct.
Took the wheel off and drove it round to someone more knowledgeable - 15 mins later it was fixed.

Does anyone know why there is no stock available of these? There seems to have been limited availability since the GR was launched. Are there any other cars using the GR fitment 225/40/18, or is this maybe the reason why there aren't making them, if it is just for 1 car?
Bloody annoying, as the level of grip that is provided by these tyres is immense & such a huge part of this car's character.

My wife's cooking BMW 1 series has the same size so there must be other stuff too

I have a set in storage that came off the car at 60 miles in. I’ve been keeping them as a spare because of the availability issues, but feel free to make me an offer if you want 😏

Late to the party but I'm sure I saw recently somewhere that Toyota UK had bought up most of the stock for use on the Yaris. Cannot for the life of me remember where though. Also not sure how reliable that is.

just seen this thread and though of tuning in with my personal experience: I warmly suggest the new GoodYear Eagle F1 SuperSport !!
In my personal experience, I have found them to have both more grip and much stiffer sidewalls as compared to the stock PS4's: so much of an improvement, and for a much lower price!

Worth mentioning that the F1 Supersports stiff sidewall make the ride a lot more jarring over poor surfaces compared to the Michelin PS4's.

I've ran both for a few thousand miles and would say the michelins are just as grippy without the horrible stiff ride.

This thread got me worried for a moment, so I looked at availability here in France, and 225 are not available on the mainstream online tyre webshops.
But Michelin still has it in their catalogue.

So it's just a matter for the resellers to order it from Michelin if you ask me.

Before anybody asks, tyre diameter is +6mm larger which makes circumference +25mm compared to the 225/40/18.
I have 235/40/18 on aftermarket wheels and it actually makes your ODOmeter "look more accurate". Readings are very much closer to GPS speed.
 
This might sound odd, but the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season+ is said to be surprisingly polyvalent, good wet & dry grip and not so bad in snow. (This tyre is OEM on the Corvette C8) Michelin engineers did their magic once again.
Once my PS4S are worn I will switch to PS A/S+ to have a decent winter tyre, without going extreme with full winters, and still use them all year round.

Sorry to have to dissapoint you but PS A/S+ aren't sold in Europe. As long as you don't import them from somewhere else you won't be able to get them.
