I was chatting with a friend of mine who owns a GR.

He has a tune, while I currently use DTUK with the Beta Maps, which I plan to eventually upgrade to ECUTEK.

During our conversation, he mentioned something that I’ve also noticed. After getting his car tuned, it initially felt very fast, but over time, the car started to feel slightly slower, as if it was gradually being pulled back to align with the original torque parameters.

I’ve experienced the same thing. If I remove the DTUK and drive for a week, then reinstall it, I notice a significant power gain at first, but the process repeats itself. I’ve done this several times now and started to wonder if it’s just my imagination or bad luck

I understand that our cars use torque tables to compute adjustments for timing, boost, and throttle. My current theory is that the ECU gradually pulls everything back until it returns to a baseline.

My question is twofold:

1. Have you experienced this as well?

2. For those of you using ECUTEK (especially if you’ve noticed this before), does the software prevent or eliminate this pullback?

I've also noticed this with the DTUK. On occassion, it also does the opposite and feels like it has 80hp more - even scrabbling the front wheels under power whilst in 50/50 mode. Feels insanely quick. But then is resumes to business as usual. Very odd.

if ECU is not happy it will pull boost and/or timing. also if you apply throttle gently it will not always give full boost, more aggressive throttle imput results higher boost. but yes, random it is. It might be one option to dial back your settings, as fuel quality might be too low or ambient temps might be too high for high powa!

Throttle input has no bearing when this happens and I've never used anything but Shell V-Power 99 since the car was new. Ambient temp also hasn't been a noticeable factor either. A mystery to me.

Yes same here - only I’ve got no boost. I started another thread on mine
